Shabby Chic Blues with Imagination Crafts' Rice Paper.......

Morning, happy bank holiday weekend! I know we don't usually do  blog posts at the weekend, but I thought I might as well show you the final two rice paper cards I made for the April class............

I used Rice Paper 174 for the background, die cutting a piece of it with a Sheena Douglass
Create a Flower die. I applied a little Antique Linen Distress ink to the white card underneath so that it blended in with the rice paper.

The butterflies are from Rice Paper 419. I glued the paper onto white card with
Magibond Decoupage Glue and cut out the pieces I wanted when the glue was dry.

The sentiment is from the Woodware Clear Magic Long Tall Flowers stamp set & I added flowers from my stash and a little Sparkle Medium..............

For the second card I used the left over pieces from both rice papers, added some stencilling with the That's Crafty Distressed Harlequin Dinky stencil and Antique Linen Distress Ink and used the sentiment from the Woodware Clear Magic Circle Flowers stamp set.............

I hope you have a great weekend and if you can tune in to Hochanda tomorrow night for the launch of the new Imagination Craft's One Day Special at 8pm, that would be great. Imagination  are releasing some BRAND NEW stamps sets designed by me and I'm really excited to see what everyone thinks of them.

**Edited to add - Sue and I made a video of all the beautiful samples for this new ODS. You can see it on the Imagination Crafts' Facebook page.**

I've been sharing sneak peeks of my samples on my Facebook page and Instagram account over the last few days and there are samples made by Sue on Imagination Crafts' Facebook and Instagram pages.

Until next time, happy crafting!
Hugs, Lisa B xx

Craft Emotions Wooden Embellishments

Hello all, today's little card is made from the Craft Emotions Wooden Embellishments range.

It a very quick little card but quite sweet I think.

First of all I chose the little owls I wanted to use from the Craft Emotions Owls & Branches Set and painted them using Imagination Crafts Starlights, Topaz and Pearl.

I took a tiny amount of the Topaz and placed it on a tile and added double the amount of Pearl to really lighted it up.  Mixed it to the shade I wanted by adding tiny amount of Pearl until I was satisfied with the colour.

Using a fine detailed brush from the Artist Brushes set I painted around the owl including the wings with the Topaz & Pearl combination.  I then used Starlights Clotted Cream for the owls chest.  Next was the little feet which I used Starlights Black.

The branch was painted using Topaz and leaves Menthol.  I then stuck on some wobbly eyes with Cosmic Shimmer to give them a character.

For the card I matted some Green Bazzil Basics card onto a 4" x 6" card.   I then took some craft card cut slightly smaller than the green and run that through an embossing folder that I thought looked a bit like a tree.  I then cut a circle out for one of the owls to sit in.  Next I took a piece of craft card enough to sit behind the circle cut out area.

I mounted the embossed card onto the main card and glued the owls in place with Cosmic Shimmer.

And that's it simple but with character, I hope you liked it and thank you for dropping by the blog again today.

Love Jan -x-

A Spring Floral Card : When is a Snowdrop not a Snowdrop?

Good morning all! Martina here, using one of my favourite little Craft Emotions dies to add delicate bunches of flowers to a card. Guess what? It's my birthday today! I had to think how old I was going to be...it took a while, I have to admit!

I love Spring, not just because it is around my birthday, but because it is when the Earth breathes and smiles. It may be daft, but as I used to drive along the motorway to work, I would marvel at the totally random bunches of daffodils, crocuses, primroses, poppies and hordes of other flowers just springing up in deserted earth. I mean, they weren't 'planted' there by anyone, so to me, a bit of magic happened...

Anyway, enough waffling and back to serious crafting matter in hand! When I first saw the Craft Emotions Snowdrop Die I knew it was going to become a favourite. It is so petite, embosses detail in the leaves and petals, cuts all the petals together, is easy to assemble and easy to vary the look. After having a play, I also realised that there are so many different flowers you can make with it, one of which I will show you...

My first step was to make a background panel with an aperture. I used a die from my stash to cut an aperture slightly to one side, allowing for positioning and adding a sentiment later.

I then ran the card through an embossing folder and added some Wilted Violet Distress Ink over the raised areas (check out Lisa B. Designs for embossing folders at up to 71% off!!)

Keeping with the purple tones, I die cut a frame to fit my aperture using the same size die as before. Taking the next size nesting die down, I cut into the shape again to make the frame.

To make the snowdrops is so easy: I die cut all the elements from Super Smooth Card and then ran them through again to get the embossing detail. There was no need to do anything more with the petals, so I just used some Bundled Sage Distress Ink on the leaves, adding some Peeled Paint Ink to the raised sections. To make the crocuses, I cut down the leaves to make them shorter and turned the snowdrop petals upside down. Using pens, I coloured the centres yellow and the tops purple, striping down into the middle.

You could easily make these into magnolia flowers using branches coming from above, tulips, blossom, you name it; have a play and you will soon see! As the petals are all so individually shaped, you can easily select the ones you need for the type of flower you want to make...

To balance the card, I used some little wooden hearts from the Craft Emotions Owls and Branches Wooden Embellishment Set. I coloured the wood using Distress Ink and then added some Blackcurrant Sparkle Medium over the top - LUSH!

The addition of a handy little sentiment from the Hobby Art Birthday Set
and there we have it!

I hope you like it: see how many little 'smiles' you can find when you're out and about!

Love
Martina

Shabby Chic Ladies with Imagination Crafts Rice Paper ........

Good morning, happy Wednesday! Lisa B here with a very quick post. I'm in Dorset, at Imagination Crafts, working with Sue on the samples & demos for the new One Day Special on Hochanda, which launches at 8pm on Sunday night, April 30. I'd thought I'd show you a couple of the cards I made for the April Maidstone classes with the beautiful new rice papers from Imagination........

For this card I used  Rice Paper 174 for the background and Rice Paper 420 and Rice Paper 460 for the focal images.

I glued the pieces I wanted to white card with Magi-Bond Decoupage Glue and cut them out when the glue had dried.

I added flowers and lace from my stash, some raffia and applied Sparkle Medium with my finger for a bit of shimmer............

This card uses Rice Paper 450 and Rice Paper 448.............

On both cards I used the Crealies' Corner cutting dies 09 for an extra embellishment and the sentiment is from the Designs by Georgina Lily unmounted stamp set, (37% off on the website).

For my final card today I used Rice Paper 336, Rice Paper 497 with pieces left over from
Rice Paper 420...............
