More Inky backgrounds with Imagination Stencils and Lavinia Stamps....

Good Morning bloggers,

I am standing in for Kirsten as she covered a few of my posts last week, bless her (my rock!)

So today I thought that I would show you a make that I made last year but again creating a inky background and explain it in a little more depth.......

I used my Distress Inks  to create the initial background with the Imagination Crafts Diamond Stencil. This is one of my favourite stencils and I use it so much as you have probably realised!!
I used a Blending Tool to add two colour inks through the stencil but as you can see in the second photograph I embossed two lines creating a border using my large headed embossing tool (8mm) and a scoring board through the centre of my cardstock and the masked off that area with copy paper. Then when I put the stencil over the area and inked it with my blending tool it just went where I wanted it to.
I then used TCW Chicken Wire Reversed Stencil over the top and Black Soot Distress Ink just in certain areas to add some more texture to the background......

I wanted a splodged area on the background but slightly controlled so I made a wash with some black gesso, loaded up a large paint brush and added a paint puddle to the top third of the card. I then took a plastic straw and blew some of the paint puddle upwards and outwards to the edges of the card. I repeated the same at the bottom but no so much.
With a smaller paint brush I flicked some black gesso over the background too......

For the flowers I used the Zen Flowers from Lavinia Stamps and coloured them with the Distress Inks. I also added a message from my stash......

Lastly I matted it firstly on to black card, it always makes an image pop if you have used a lot of black and adds drama to the piece and then on to a co-ordinating colour card and then on to my card.....

Well that is all from me for now, have a fabulous weekend and I will be back tomorrow with a special preview??????....

More Yin and Yang....

*This is an Indigo Blu promotion post. Remember to leave a comment to be entered in the giveaway*.

Good Morning all,

Can you believe it....we are only three days away from my Event Day and there is still so much to do.......
Mind you it is shaping up to be a fabulous day in store for you all.......;0)

I thought I would show you the actual card that they made on the last workshop and then a similar alternative using a different IndigoBlu stamp and different stencil but along similar line of the yin and yang technique.....

They made this first one using the Diamonds Imagination Stencil and IndigoBlu Poinsettia Flower ( If you missed it, I did a tutorial on the blog last Wednesday on it HERE )......

I love the vibrancy of these colours this is pure summer to me! They did the card in four different colour schemes and it was lovely seeing them all emerge......

Now for the second card I used the same principles of the vibrant and then the clean look to the card but used the Crafters Workshop Mini Chicken Wire Reversed Stencil ( try saying that after a few glasses of wine!) and the IndigoBlu Wild Flowers Stamp...
I coloured in some of the chicken wire with a colour wash of Distress Ink and on the poppies too.....

A little closer look......

Well that is all for now, I will be back on Saturday with another scheduled post as I might have my hands full!!!

P.S. Did I say four more sleeps!!!!!

Summer Sunshine.......

*This is an Indigo Blu promotion post. Remember to leave a comment to be entered in the giveaway*.

Morning all,

Me again, two posts in two days can't be bad can it!!

Our lovely DT member Georgina is taking a little break for a couple of months over the summer to spend more time with her daughter and hubby. Kirsten and I will be covering the posts and also blogging some of Georgina's cards too. We also have a new DT member coming on board which we will announce to you in due course.....

Because it has been lovely and sunny lately it put me in good mood in my studio the other week and I reached for my Mustard Seed and Spiced Marmalade Distress inks and got out my gorgeous Dinkie Flutterby Stamp.

I have had quite a few butterflies in the garden lately and I have been watching them darting between the flowers so it gave me an idea!!

I also grabbed out of my stash the lovely Wild Flowers Stamp, the Live Every Moment sentiment from the Live, Love Laugh Stamp Set and my Diamonds Stencil.......

I created the background first using the Diamonds Stencil and sponging through with some cut'n'dry foam using both distress inks, blending them as I worked them through.
Then I stamped and embossed the message using Black Versafine Ink and Wow Clear Embossing Powder.....

I stamped the Dinkie Flutterby on to another piece of white card, stamped it again on a post-it note and made a mask and then stamped the Wild Flowers Stamp over the top. I embossed all the areas with clear powder again.

I made a watercolour wash with both of the Distress Inks and painted the flowers and butterfly. I used a Pro-Marker to add a bit of green to the stems and then I cut the whole thing out leaving a white border around the edge to make it pop.......

I then matt and layered it up on to my card adding a bit of height to the main focal with some 3D foam.....

I hope you like my drop of  'Summer Sunshine' inspiration....

Please leave a comment as I love to read what you think..

Until next time,

Big Hugs Lisa B.xx

Technique treat.....

*This is an IndigoBlu promotion post. Remember to leave a comment to be entered in the giveaway.*

Morning everyone,

How are we all today, hasn't it been great to see a bit of sunshine lately......I don't know about you but it always puts a spring in my step!
I did a little tutorial over on  IndigoBlu Blog a couple of weeks ago and thought I would treat you all here by sharing the technique that I taught at my workshop last Friday......

There is a great trend around at the moment for really bright colour on cards and then also a lot of white showing too.....I thought I would show you my version of it.....I call it Yin and Yang.....too total opposites that sit perfectly together to create simple, clean, lovely cards.

So without further ado here goes:

IMG_00001686 copy

So first of all I cut a piece of white card 5" square and then cut some copy paper to divide the card in two halves, I chose to do a curved shape but you can cut any shape you like.....

IMG_00001687 copycopy

I then placed the Diamond Stencil over the top of the card and stuck it down around the edge with stencil tape. I took two Distress Inks, I chose Spiced Marmalade and Mustard Seed and worked the colours over the stencil using a blending tool, you need to be quite random and add plenty of colour....

IMG_00001689 copy

When I removed the tape and stencil you can see the effect you get from the wavy line of the copy paper.....

IMG_00001691 copy

Next I replaced the copy paper and again taped it down with the stencil tape and then took a small amount of black paint on to my craft mat and spritzed it with a little water....I then loaded up my brush and flicked it over the stencilled area, try to get some big blots and small blots to make it more interesting.....

IMG_00001693 copy

This is the result when the copy paper is removed, leave it aside to dry naturally....

IMG_00001699 copy

Next I took the small and medium Poinsettia Stamp ( now although this is called Poinsettia Stamp it is not just for Christmas but I use it all year round, loooove this stamp! ) I stamped three of each in Black Versafine Ink and then heat embossed them with Wow Clear Embossing Powder.....

IMG_00001703 copy

Next I took my two Distress Inks and some small pieces of cut'n'dry foam and blended the two colours over the top of the flowers starting with the yellow in the middle and then blending in to the orange on the outer edges.....

IMG_00001704 copy

Here is a closer look......

IMG_00001707 copy

Repeat the process until all flowers are coloured.......

IMG_00001709 copy

I then cut them all out leaving a small border around the edges, like so........

IMG_00001716 copy

Pinch them between your finger and thumb to get more dimension in them.....
.

Like so.......

Then back to your background......I then stamped my message from the Live, Laugh, Love IndigoBlu stamp set (another one of my favourites ) in the black ink and embossed it too.......

IMG_00001722 copy

Then I matted and layered it on to black and yellow card and then on to a 7" square card.....
.

Lastly I added the flowers to the middle of the card following the curve that I had created......and voila you are done!

Here is another example in another colour and angle using the Regal Stencil......

Well I hope that you have enjoyed my Yin and Yang tutorial and fancy having a go, I will be back on soon with more inspiration.

Until then, have a great week.....
