Morning all,
I thought that as we forgot to take some pictures of the class this month that I would show you the class cards that were made and also show you one of the technique's that we used.
It is a great way of using up all the scrap pieces of papers that we all have where we cut a sheet of paper and then think "oh that's too good to throw away, I'll put it in my scrap box and use it later."
Two years later that scrap box has just got bigger and bigger!!!!
This is the first card that they made on the night, which threw a lot of the ladies!!
I always think that what I have set is maybe too simple but it got the old brain cells working really hard for them when they came to map out their design.......
This is how the background is made and how you get to use all your scraps up.......
Take a piece of Double Sided Film I used 5.3/4" square and then cut a piece of white card 5.5" square.......Peel off one side of the film and stick the card to it cutting off the excess film.....
You next need to cut seven strips of co-ordinating papers, say three different patterns 6" x .75"; three of one pattern and two of two other patterns.....
Next peel back about half an inch of the other side of the film and stick one of the three strips to the top........
Carry on peeling back a small piece of the film each time and then adding another strip until you have used all seven strips.....
Trim off all the excess and then cut the horizontal pieced card vertically in to .75" strips....
Then arrange them on to your card in a sliding action to create a pattern on your card. Have a go, it is a great technique and creates a lovely background out of scraps!......
The message on the card is from the Hobby Art Old Crock stamp set. The keys came from the Kaiser Keys Stamps.........
Here is the second card that they made, using suspension embossing and creating a great background from Distress inks.......
For this card they used the Woodware Clear Magic Casting the Bait stamp and the Hobby Art Silhouette Grasses stamp. ........
The main image is stamped in Versafine Onyx Black.......
Well, that is all from me for now, I hope you liked the technique.
I will be back on Saturday.....

Enjoyed making these. The first one great idea for using up those scraps we all collect. The second card we thought was going to be difficult but surprised us how quickly and effective the triple embossing was. Will be using that technique again.
ReplyDeleteTwo great cards. Will definitely have a go at using up all my scraps as in the first card. Am thinking whether I have something that I could try the ideas from the second card! Thank you for more inspiration! Jan
ReplyDeleteLove that "sliding" technique, so much easier than weaving. Just one problem now... finding scraps that go together in the big scrap mountain!
ReplyDeleteFabulous cards. Great techniques used. Love the first one though.
ReplyDeleteI have also entered the monthly challenge but my second entry needs deleting as I totally missed the part about no digi images. Sorry.

Two move fabulous male creations! I started blogging a couple of years ago and I took part in a Year of Use It Up pledges. One phrase that someone said to me once was about no-one seeing the beautiful papers that I have hoarded. So I try to use those gorgeous papers, snippets and left overs and I love seeing another technique for using them pieces up - thank you for the inspiration Karen x
ReplyDeletehi, what a great technique, will have a go at this, but i think it may take me a while to get thought my mound of papers. Thanks for showing how to do it, xx
ReplyDeleteI loved both these cards at the class. Useful to remember what we did.
