Hobby Art Poinsettia & Sparkle Medium

Hi there crafters, today's card is centred around just the large Poinsettia stamp from the Hobby Art Poinsettia Stamp Set and Sparkle Medium.

So this time I started with a 6" x 6" white card and matted it with green mirri card, then a white matt.  Followed by another matt of red mirri card then plain white for the image.

The next step was to cover some white Super Smooth Card with Sparkle Mediums to create my own sparkly card.

I used the Woodware Mini Brayer to do this and only used enough card to stamp my images.  I used the following for each element:

For the leaves - Sage Green
For the Flower - Bright Red

I left them to dry for quite a while before stamping using the large flower head and stamping that twice and the medium leaf six times onto the green, ensuring you use a lot of pressure by using the Stampeazee acrylic press.

(Sorry about the quality of the photos, sparkle medium reflects too much because it's so sparkly, in a good way)

I then cut out all the images ready to decoupage.  I decided to cut out the second layer of frons individually to create more height.

I put the Poinsettia together by adding a piece of 3D foam and then gluing the frons into place.  I didn't mind about the foam pad showing because I knew I was covering it up with a large Dazzler.

I stamped the Season's Greetings sentiment on to white card and matted it up with red mirri card.  Then just assembled the card as you can see but made sure I 3D the flower head for even more height and placed a large yellow Dazzler in the centre.

Card done, here it is again.

Snow White

Good morning crafters............I hope you're looking forward to your Christmas, I'm feeling quite festive now.  We've just spent the day in London with the Grandchildren to see the Christmas Lights, and very nice they were too.

 

Today's card is very simple but I hope you think it's effective.

 

 

I made up a matted and layered landscape card with matt silver card from my stash, measuring 6" x 8" then stamped the Woodware Forest Trees using Versamark and Wow Bright White embossing powder. 

 

Once heated and dried, I tore a piece of paper to create a couple of little mountains, then took a very small amount of Black Soot Distress Ink on a piece of Cut and Dry and rubbed in well in to the craft mat so there was on a very light amount left of the pad before inking up the rest of the card. 

 

I cleaned up the trees and stamped with the Seasons Greetings Stamp from the Winters Tale Set. 

 

 

 

I made a small bow of white organza and finished it off with a Clear Dazzler.  Like I say very simple, but I like the effect of white on white.

Domed Baubles

Hi crafters, this card was at the last workshop along with all our other stunning samples from Lisa and the team of Sparkle Medium, which I love.

 

 

First of all I used the Imagination Crafts Christmas Holly Stencil, which I believe will be back in stock this week.  I took a piece of acetate cut a little wider than the Bauble Sparkle background paper to allow for the dome effect.

 

I taped down the stencil before spreading the Silver Sparkle Medium first using a palette knife, taking care not to go into the holly shape, then used the Sage Green Sparkle Medium for the holly leaves, removed the stencil and left that to dry.

 

In the mean time I used a DL size card and used double sided tape around each edge then burnished it with Glamour Dust........as usual other glitters are available :o)

 

Once the Sparkle Medium was dry, I glued three of the little red Dazzlers from the Jewel Aurora pack using Cosmic Shimmer to where the berries should be using the stencil as a guide.  Here's  closer look..

 

 

 

I took the Imagination Crafts Bauble Sparkle background paper and attached the acetate to the back making sure the sparkle image was in the centre before attaching the second side to form the dome.

 

 

To finish off I used double sided tape to secure the acetate image to the DL card.

A Winter's Day

 

 

Hello crafters, it's Jan here, I hope you all had a good weekend. 

 

Today's cards are quick and easy and from the Winters Day collection of stamps, now back in stock, and these two were at the last workshop so thank you for your lovely comments.

 

Sorry all, but for this one I didn't take any progress pictures as I was going along, I wasn't sure I was going to keep this one, but then decided I liked the finished card after all.

 

I used the Snow Flake Flurry - Check and flat matted it onto some silver mirri
then on to a 6 x 6 card. 

 I stamped the image using Memento and cut around the edge evenly then flat matted that onto some more check and mirri card before cutting two rectangles in plain white card, which I very lightly distressed with Tim Holtz Tumbled Glass.   One larger piece for the image and smaller piece for the greeting.  You'll notice I didn't do any matting on that but the choice is yours.    The wavy line can be achieved by scalloped scissors or a paper cutter with various blades. 

I then glued the Hobby House Pearl Strings - Square Pattern down the left side about 1 cm in from the edge of the patterned card before placing the image on foam pads.

For the sentiment I trimmed to size and placed using foam pads and
the pearl strings above it. 

Finished off with three punched snowflakes.

 

 

 Well, that's it for this one, nice and quick I think.

 

 This next one is an easel card with a little more instruction..............

 

 

I first stamped my main image onto Water colour card and coloured them in using the Imagination Craft Silkies, Sunset Satin, Gold Brocade and Apple Lace.  To create the white shadow on the side of the watering can I just painted a little Imagination Craft White MDF paint (but you could use a white water colour pencil or other acrylic paint to achieve the same effect).  I then edged with Tim Holtz Spun Sugar distress ink.
 

I stamped the smaller image and coloured and inked to match.

I cut to fit The Hobby House Snow Flake Flurry - Pink and Stripe a 6 x 6 card.  Once the easel was folded I edged the larger striped card using double sided tape then burnished it using glamour dust......other glitters are available :o)
 

I lined half the folded card with the stripe and prepared the stopper using white card, again edged with glitter before mounting it with the Pink Snow Flake card.............

 

 

I cut a 5.5 x 5.5 Pink Snowflake card and edged it with glitter then wrapped some Cranberry and Ivory Baker Twine around it before mounting it on the folded side of the easel card.

Once all the pieces were taped together I placed the images and tied a bow with the twine and covered the knot with a Dazzler.
