Hobby Art Poppy Scene

 

Hello again crafters.  I hope you all had a lovely break over the Easter.

 

I celebrated my birthday this week and spent the day with Lisa and the girls that all help out at the workshop.  I had a wonderful day that I'll always remember, I don't think we stopped laughing for most of the day, oh and eating, Kate was the host and provided some lovely food, there was plenty of cake some home made by Rose and myself and some bought and all lovely.  They got me a huge bunch of gorgeous flowers and Rose make me a lovely little Primrose cake.

 

So todays card is following on from the theme of the last class and my take on the card you made.

 

 

 

I started with a 5.5" x 5.5" piece of white Super Smooth card and cut it in half using the Crealies No 8 cutting die.  I then turned the die around on the bottom half of the card and cut it again so I had the stitch mark showing.  Then set that aside.

 

Next I used the Hobby Art Poppy Scene-it and took the largest of the poppy's to create the foreground image, stamping it twice so it could be decoupaged.  I stamped using Versafine and Wow Clear Embossing powder.  I cut around one set leaving a thin white border showing.

 

 

Next came the colouring in, so used Imagination Crafts Starlights Red and a tiny bit of Menthol for the storks.  Dropping some on a tile and adding the tiniest amount of water to create the darker colour then picking up some more paint on a different part of the tile and adding more water for a lighter shade of the red.  I set those aside to dry and carried on with the next stage.

 

Next I wanted to create a background that would show between the two cut out lines.  I took a piece of card 5.5" x 3" and started to blend Spiced Marmalade and Squeezed Lemonade onto the card using a Blending Tool and taking the ink straight from the pad for a more intense colour.

 

 

(Please excuse the messy distress ink pad I had a little mishap in my ink box, I can assure you it is Squeezed Lemonade)

 

Next I lined up my cut edges to see where I could stamp a couple of little images from the same stamp set, this set has about 22 stamps in it.  Once lined up I put a little mark where I wanted the images to go then stamped and embossed as before.  I then cut another piece of card the same size as before and stuck the coloured strip in the middle then stuck the cut halves in placed them apart so as to see the stamped images and enough of the colour.

 

 

Once that was I done I matted the card on to some black card.

 

 

Almost done, next was to cut out the poppy heads to decoupage and mounted using 3D foam, I then 3D them onto the card but sticking the stork directly onto the card so I could stamp some grass around them.

 

 

 

I stuck the whole card onto a 7" x 7" card and added a little sentiment and some little dots and lines using a Micron Fineliner

Hobby Art Framed Poppy

Hi there crafters, I hope you're all well and looking forward to Spring even though it's been quite cold this week.

Today's little card is made up of Hobby Art Stamps and Imagination Crafts Starlights.

So first of all I took a 7" x 7" white blank card and then cut a square of White Super Smooth card to about 6" x 6".  Then took the Hobby Art In The Cornfield Stamp set and stamped the largest poppy in the centre of the card using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and the Stampeazee

I then stamped the image again onto some Mask-it and covered the poppy head and stamped another large poppy to the right.  I then stamped the poppy seed head on the second poppy and the small poppy to the left of the first poppy.  Once that was I done I stamped the little poppy head onto a post-it note and cut it out to use as a mask.  I covered the small poppy head and stamped the large poppy again but on the right.................phew, too many poppies sounds like I'd stamped a field of them.

I coloured them all in with a wash of Red Starlights and water to bring out more sparkle for the head and Menthol for the stems.  Left that to dry for a while then run them through with a die cut frame from my stash to create the frame.  I purposely made sure the frame covered the flowers.

I raised the frame with 3D foam pads before putting it place on the blank card then flat matted the main image inside the frame.

And there you have it, a simple and easy little card.

In The Garden

Happy New Year to you all, I hope it was a good one.  Ours was very quiet, my husband was poorly and in bed so I spent the evening watching Robbie Williams then the fireworks then a bit of Hootenanny, but good anyway.

I thought I'd carry on with the little wooden embellishments this month but this time using the Fence and Lanterns.

I started with my usual 7" x 7" white card blank and matted it with some Silver Pearlised Card then cut a smaller piece of White Pearlised Card that I would use as my topper.

 

I took the small fence and stippled it directly with Silver Starlights then once it was dry I randomly dabbed on some White Gold Starlights, then done the same to one of the lanterns.

 

For the image I used the Stampendous Field Of Daisy's but I think that the Field of Poppies would work just as well.  I masked off about a third of the stamp so that it would fit inside the fence which I was using as a planter.  I then stamped the image to one side of the card.

Then started to fill in the petals using a very small amount of Rusty Patina - Blanc mixed with an equal amount of Pearl Starlights, then dabbed the petals with the mix using a very fine detail paint brush.  I coloured in the centres just with a bright yellow colouring pencil and the bees using a small mixture of Rusty Patina and White Gold Starlights.  I then used a fine line black pen to go around the petals to make them stand out more.

 

Once it was all dry I masked the image, created a mound with a post it note then distressed with Mowed Lawn, then distressed the sky using Tumbled Glass ( I didn't notice the black marks until I took the photo, and rubbed them out later)

 

I then placed a backing to the planter with a little piece of white card so I could 3D it. Then stuck the lantern in place on the mound added a little sentiment and the card was done.

 

Very quick and easy again for you.

Good morning my lovelies and Happy New Year to you all,

Let's hope that 2017 will be a much happier, healthier year for us all. I do hope that you all had a lovely Christmas and New Year and spent time with those that mean the most to you whoever they may be!

I really enjoyed my Christmas with my family but they all ended up getting the lurgy that is going around at the moment and it has now found it's way to me and Paul, my husband!!

But hey ho, we dose up and carry on........

Sooooo.......

Today I thought that I would show you some That's Crafty acrylic stackers that I made last year and both Kirsten and I did not get time to blog them, so we thought that we would save them for January. It is also something that I want to teach this year as they are fabulous to make and really quite addictive once you have made one!!

They comprise of four layers, one mdf and three acrylic. Two of the acrylic layers are thinner than the other one and it is up to you how you wish to sandwich them with the screws that are provided.

Below are a couple that I made, the first one is a Panel 1 Stacker and I used Distress inks, Starlight Paints and Stampendous stamps on it.......

I really love how you can build a scene up in layers and get so much depth to the project......

The second project that I have to show you today is a Acrylic Book, now I really love these as you can pretty much do anything to them from stamping and painting to adding rice papers to them, photos, treating them like a scrapbook......whatever you want to really. I just love the way you can see through the acrylic to other pages. I chose not to use the mdf front on this one as it comes with a front and back mdf cover and three inside clear acrylic pages.

Again I used Distress inks, Starlight paints and Stampendous Stamps. I really loved building up the scene and adding the depth layer by layer and watching the book come to life.....

Open or closed there is so much depth to look at......

Well I do hope that this is something that inspires you and you fancy having ago as these gave me so much pleasure to create.
