Christmas in the Country

Good morning, Kirsten here, I hope you had a great weekend. I have another card from last week's Maidstone classes to show you today. I wanted to make a different type of winter scene to the class projects, so I used the Woodware Clear Magic Snowman Family stamp with Hobby Art's Nature Trail set...........

First of all, a very easy background created with Distress Inks; Picked Raspberry, Spiced Marmalade and Squeezed Lemonade on a square of white card............

I stamped all my elements with Onyx Black Versafine and heat set with WOW! Clear Gloss embossing powder and coloured the snow people with Distress inks before cutting everything out. I also cut two pieces of white card to make hills. I blended Tumbled Glass Distress ink on both, stamped a sentiment from the Woodware Clear Magic Christmas Cheer set on what would be the lowest hills, then covered both pieces with double sided adhesive before applying 

Diamond Frost Frosty Dawn loose glitter on top...............

I spent a bit of time arranging the placement of the elements and deciding which of the snow people I was going to use.............

I used a Micron black pen to ground the rabbit, deer and snow people, it worked very well over the glitter.

I am rather pleased with how this card turned out, I hope you like it too.

Snowman Family

Good morning, Kirsten here, happy Monday - and happy almost November!!!! We had a fun class in Maidstone on Friday, you can see the cards in this album on the Lisa B Designs Facebook page and today I'm showing you the first card I made based on one of the class projects, which used the Woodware Clear Magic Snowman Family stamp.

 

I die cut the Joy Craft Happy Holidays Pine Trees to use the negatives as stencils.............

 

Next, the background, with Distress inks; I created the sun first, with Squeezed Lemonade through a circle die cut, then applied Cracked Pistachio and Twisted Citron through the trees' stencils.

 

I coloured the Woodware Clear Magic Snowman Family with Distress inks used as watercolours and them out. I used the bottom of the piece of card to draw a line on a piece of white card to create hills and cut that out too.................

 

  

I stamped the snowmen stamp on to the background, covered the hills piece of card with 

double sided adhesive, cut off the excess and applied Diamond Frost Frosty Dawn loose glitter on top..........

 

I put all the pieces together on a DL card with some coloured card for matting and layering and finished with a sentiment, a little Diamond Sparkle Medium on the snow people and some

 Glossy Accents on the hearts........

Imagination Crafts Clematis Elements

 

Hi there crafters, a different day for me this week.

 

I wanted to use Lisa gorgeous clematis stamp set for this card but still using the rice paper technique on tissue paper.

 

 

 

So I started with my usual 7" x 7" white card then cut a black matt approximately half inch smaller.  I wanted a bit of sparkle on this card too, so I took by wide double sided tape and taped all around the edge of the card then cut some double sided adhesive sheet slightly larger than the corner die I used from my stash, stuck in place then covered with black glitter.

 

 

I then took a piece of white Super Smooth card and cut that approximately half inch small than the black matt.  I ran my corner die though twice once for top left and once for bottom right corners.  I then stuck all the matts together onto the card. (I think the Imagination Crafts Honeycomb Stencil would work just as well for this project)

 

 

Next I took the Imagination Crafts Clematis Elements stamp set and stamped the large image once and the two flower heads twice onto plain white tissue paper.

 

 

I then pasted the images onto to white card and cut out the flower heads ready to decoupage.  I decided to use my honeycomb corner die to randomly cut around the larger image trimming away the holes, before layering onto some black card I had already glittered, then roughly cut around the same shape leaving a very small border.

 

 



 

I used double sided foam on the back of the larger image to place on the card, glued the flower heads in place added a few little black gems and the card was done.  Very quick and easy but I hope you like it and it's given you some inspiration to use Lisa's stamps :o)

Sweet Poppy & Lavinia

 

Hi there crafters, another favourite technique from 2015 for you, this time Sweet Poppy Stencils, Lavinia Stamps and Dimension Paste.

 

 

I took a 7" x 7" white card and matted it with black card, then die cut a 6.5" square white card using a beautiful die I had for Christmas from the Sue Wilson range.

 

I then cut a piece of white smooth card 3.5" x 5.75" and a piece of black card slightly larger to create a frame.  I wanted to use the Sweet Poppy Agapanthus Stencil, so laid the card onto a magnetic sheet and placed the stencil on top, because of the size of the cut card it fitted perfectly and made it easier to tape down using very low tack masking tape.

 

 

I spread the Sweet Poppy Translucent Dimension Paste across the top of the stencil and using the Sweet Poppy Spreader dragged the paste down over the stencil then took away the excess paste before gently removing the tape and lifting the stencil to reveal the image.  I moved the card to a difference craft mat so I could glitter it and then leave to dry without disturbing it.  I used a very fine green glitter for the stem and Crystal Glitter for the flower heads (sorry about the slight contamination, very shaky hands)

 

Whilst that was drying I went ahead and prepared the background for the card by stamping some Lavinia Stamps Dandelions heads only (I thought they matched the stencil well)  To get just the heads, I put the stamp as close to the edge of the acrylic block as possible,

 

 

 Then covered the stem with a little sellotape before inking.

 

 

Then removed the tape before stamping the image on the card. 

 

 

I repeated this several times in each corner of the card. 

 

 

 

I then thought it needed some colour so used Mowed Lawn Distress Ink and a Smoothie  (sorry out of at the moment but please keep popping back) and gently inked over each of the images until I was happy with the finish.

 

 

 

I matted the stencilled image onto the black card and mounted that with foam pads before placing it in the centre of the card, it does cover the stamped images a little but I think it's fine, gives it dimension.
