Poppy Stencil part three.....

Good morning all,

Wow.....

I have had such a busy week being away at the NEC Hobbycrafts Show with Imagination Crafts and only got back late yesterday, so I am feeling somewhat exhausted at the moment!
Thank you so much to everyone who visited the stand and supported us, we had such a busy show and thank you also for all your lovely comments to Sue and I for our shows on Hochanda, it means so much to us.....

But onwards and upwards as they say..... Kirsten and I are busy preparing for my class next week and also there are more Hochanda shows coming up, so I am preparing for those too.

We have also been very busy putting LOTS of new items on the website and you can find them here in the WHAT'S NEW section.......

I have not had any time to play lately so I thought that I would show you some more samples that I made for the last class using my poppy stencil. Sorry but it is a quick post today as I have so much to do....

These next two cards were made in a similar way as my last two posts here....... 

I cut away the main image that I created with the Poppy Stencil and 3D'd it on to another background that I created using a couple of stencils and Distress Ink.

For this next card, I created the main image using my Poppy Stencil in the same way and then added a background with the hexagons stencil and Distress ink and then die cut a circle away and added a matting circle layer of black in between. I also created two extra flower heads to decoupage on top......

Creating a scene with Imagination Craft Stencils part two.......

Good morning lovelies, I do hope that you are all well out there........

So today I am away setting up the stand with Imagination Crafts for the Spring Hobby Crafts show at the NEC, so if you are visiting drop by and say Hi to us. We are on stand A12......

I thought that I would show you today more cards that I made for my workshop last month using my Poppy Stencil from Imagination Crafts......

These are made in the same way as my tutorial last week, if you missed it it's HERE but I started with the background first using lots of Stencils and Distress inks and then used Stencil Paints through the stencil as I did last week and foiled again with Sparkle Medium........

Birthday Poppy

 

Good morning crafters, here again.  So today's card is a spin on the card created at the workshop last Friday.

 

 

I cut a piece of Super Smooth white card 5.75" x 5.75" and decided I wanted to use the new Imagination Craft Embossing Mat and Lisa's Poppy Stencil that you got free at the class on Friday.  So I embossed the stencil onto the Super Smooth using the instructions on the back of the Embossing Mat packaging, in my case I followed the instructions for the Grand Calibur.  (one little tip, I used the A4 sized plates and NOT the junior plates, only because using the junior plates is a very tight fit, and using the A4 it seems to go through much smoother)

 

The mat gives a super impression.

 

 

I taped down the card and placed the stencil back on top, which was quite easy being embossed.  I used the domed Stencil Brush and Imagination Crafts Stencil Paint Lime Green for the foliage.

 

 

I cleaned my brush with  wet wipe before using another Stencil Paint this time Mallow for the Poppy Head.

 

 

I removed all the tap and put the stencil straight into warm soapy water to soak.   I then used the Lime Green and the Mallow to paint in the open areas of the stencil then dried with a heat gun.

 

 

 

Once the stencil was washed and dried I placed it back onto card over the image because I wanted to experiment with embossing powders.  So I carefully covered the entire stencil with Versamark really pushing the ink through the stencil to ensure it covered the image, I quickly removed the stencil and put it straight into soapy water again, (another quick tip is to make sure you do this straight away otherwise, as it's a sticky ink, it will mark your stencil).

 

 

I covered the image with Wow Clear Embossing Powder and heated to get the effect below.

 

 

I was slightly disappointed that there didn't seem to be much difference between the outline and the filled in colours so I experimented more by covering the image with the stencil again and used the Versamark Pen just to go around the outline of the flower heads, removed the stencil and putting in  soak again, then used a Cranberry Coloured Embossing Powder from my stash and heated to get the effect below:

 

 

I then decided I wanted to just distress all four sides of the image using the Mowed Lawn Distress Ink then just used the TCW Mini Tiny Circles stencil in each of the corners using the same ink pad and created a slight darker image.

 

 

Then it was the finishing touches of black matting then lime green before placing onto a white 7" x 7" card, stamped sentiment by Woodware and a few gems in each corner.

Sweet Poppy Canvases

Good morning, Kirsten here with two canvases to show you. I used Sweet Poppy stencils, (Mushroom Dwelling & Oriental Lily) & Dimension pastes, as well as Brusho Crystals, acrylic paint & Crackle medium on 20x20cm canvas boards.

I mixed purple Brusho with white dimension paste & scraped it onto the board with a palette knife, varying the depth of coverage & leaving gaps. I sprinkled a little more purple Brusho onto the wet paste & set the canvas aside to dry.

The next step was to fill in the white areas with washes of orange & yellow Brusho, drying in between to build up the colour. Once I was happy with that I applied Glossy Black paste through the Oriental Lily stencil & once again set the canvas aside to dry............

To finish the canvas I applied black gesso through the That Special Touch Splats stencil around the edge of the canvas & clear embossing ink through the Imagination Crafts Leaf Swirl stencil, topping with gold embossing powder & heat setting..................

This gives you an idea of how glossy the black dimensional paste is...........

I painted the second canvas firstly with a grey-blue acrylic paint, applied Imagination Crafts' Crackle Medium on top, when that was dry I applied a wash of an off-white acrylic paint...........

I sprinkled on Ost Blue & Yellow Brusho crystals, spritzed the canvas with water to activate the colour in the crystals & repeated, adding & taking away colour until was I happy. When the Brusho colours had dried I added stenciling; 

Imagination Crafts' Honeycomb stencil, the Pronty Waves stencil & the TCW Sketch Grid stencil with Distress inks & Imagination Crafts' stencil paint in Rose, Royal Blue & Bluebell...............

 I applied the black paste though the Mushroom Dwelling stencil - because the canvas boards are thicker than card, you can't use a magnetic sheet underneath to hold the stencil in place, so you need to make sure you secure the stencil with plenty of masking tape.

This canvas then sat in my craft room until Lisa suggested I add some gold to it. I followed her idea for the class projects, using gold gilding flakes & copper glitter at the bottom & as with the first canvas, embossing ink through a stencil, this time The Crafter's Workshop Sketch Grid stencil, and gold embossing powder..........
