Alcohol Inks & Lavinia Fairy

 

Hello again crafters, hope you're all keeping well.   I've seen the first signs of Spring in my garden, a few Snow Bells, Daffodils and some Tulips my daughter bought me all the way from Amsterdam are just poking through the soil :o)

 

 Another little card using Alcohol Inks and Lavinia stamps but based on one of the cards you done at the workshop a couple of weeks ago.  I had already done this card and didn't have any idea Lisa had chosen that design for the class.

 

 

So I used a 6" x 6" white card blank and cut a black card matt, slightly smaller, I then cut some white gloss card 5.5" x 5.5" to use as my background.

 

I used the following three Alcohol Inks:

Limeade

Patina

Poppy field

 

I dotted some ink onto the felt pad of my blending tool then in between dotted some Alcohol Blending Solution.  Then started to press down onto the gloss card and leave it for a few seconds and carried on doing that all over the card refilling the blending tool whenever I thought it needed more colour.  I then used a clean piece of felt and dotted some blending solution and dabbed that all over the background to give a sort of marble effect, well I thought anyway :o)

 

Once I was happy with that I thought I'd be clever and try to remove some colour from the centre of the card to create a moon but unfortunately made a complete mess of it.

 

Rather than throw it away and start again I decided to cut out the messed up bit using a circular die then added some more ink around the edges.  I took the cut out piece and covered it in a double sided adhesive sheet and covered that in glitter, before placing it back into the hole and sticking it with sellotape from the back of the card.

 

 

I then stamped the background a few times using the Lavinia Willow stamp, using Black Archival.

 

I cut a piece of acetate slightly wider that the card, then stamped the Lavinia Bria Rose stamp using Black Stazon and left that to dry.

 

 

I then cut myself two borders using a punch from my stash for the acetate to attach to.

 

So when the fairy was dry I bent the left hand side about 1 cm and tucked it behind the background card sticking it down with double sided tape.  I then attached the borders to both sides of the card and stuck the whole thing to the base card.

 

Really quite simple but very effective card and can be posted flat.

Imagination Crafts Robin Shaker Card

Hi there crafters, well Friday again and the workshop to look forward to later.  So this is my last of the Art Stamp blogs and thought I'd finish with a little shaker card.

 

This was done using a 6" x 6" card which I matted with black but cut a circle in the middle so the you could see through the acetate.

 

I stamped the Imagination Crafts Robin Art Stamp onto the acetate using Stazon ink pad then painted some of the areas using Imagination Crafts Starlights, Red for the Robin, Topaz for the large branch and Green for the leaves.  I then took a piece of white card cut slightly smaller than the black and using a circle die to cut an aperture the next size down from the black and positioned the stamped image behind to see how I wanted it to fit before cutting it down.

Before sticking it down on to the acetate, I stamped one of the greeting from the Hobby Art Poinsettia stamps set with Versafine and WOW clear embossing powder before running it through my favourite Christmas embossing folder. 

I then stuck the acetate image behind the aperture and left to dry for a few minutes. 

In the mean time I stamped the smaller of the poinsettias from the same Hobby Art set three times and painted them again using Starlights but this time watering them down slightly for a more sparkly effect.  You can see I was quite rough with the painting as I was going to decoupage them so you wouldn't see the first layer.

The next thing was to make up the shaker so turned the card upside down and placed the 3D foam all around the outside of the card then all around the circle.  I placed some Imagination Crafts Sparkle Glitter along with some Glamour Dust into the centre, carefully removed the tape then covered the circle with another piece of acetate to secure, check for any leaks, thankfully none then mounted the card together.

The last thing was to decoupage the poinsettia and mount onto the card and added little gems to the centre of the flower.

Imagination Crafts Art Stamps

Hello there crafters, new month, new products, I'm using the gorgeous new Imagination Crafts Art Stamps.

 

 I started with a A4 size piece of acetate and stamped the Imagination Crafts Winter Robin half way down and half way in from the edge of the Acetate using Stazon Ink Pad.

I wanted to create a couple of borders for my matting and layering so chose two Starlight Colours and painted just the edges of a white Super Smooth with Starlights Silver Gold and a piece of black card with Starlights Black.  Left them to one side to dry a while. 

I created a background using a piece of Super Smooth 6" x 6" and stamped the Christmas Words using Versamark Clear Ink pad and a Gold Embossing Powder, stamping in one area first then embossing then filling in the blank areas one at a time until the whole page was covered.

Here are all the layers I used for my matting a layering...........

Now it was time to layer up the stamped image by turning it over and dotting some Cosmic Shimmer Glue randomly on the solid black areas of the image so they could not be seen once layered.

 

(Looks like snow, tee hee)

Then turned that over and laid it over the background so that it lined up with the left edge of the card. 

Once that was dry - it only takes a few minutes - I cut down the acetate in line with the stamped background.  I layered that up onto the black, then white, then gold, then wrapped a piece of black and gold ribbon from my stash and place the whole thing onto a 7" x 7" card.

I created another set of smaller layers using the Gold and Black Starlights for my sentiment which I used from the Hobby Art Poinsettia Stamp Set, again using the gold embossing powder to keep the theme.
