Paper Pierced Mr Frosty

Hi there crafters, another little Christmassy card for you again today.

 



So as usual I started with the 7" x 7" white card blank.

Then cut several pieces of card in lilac and white for matting, layering and embellishing as follows:

 

6 ½ x 6 ½  Lilac Bazzil Basics Card

6 ¼ x 6 ¼ Plain White Card

6 ¼ x 2 Lilac Strip

6 ¼ x 1 ¾ White Strip

6 ¼ x 1 ½ Lilac Strip

 

Then cut a piece of lilac card 4 ½ x 4 ½ then a piece of white card 4 x 4 for the image.

 

 

I then stamped the Woodware Mr Frosty stamp onto the 4 x 4 white card with a little sentiment then again on to some scrap, this is going to be for colouring and cutting out.

 

 

I tipped out a tiny amount of the Starlights Lilac Mist onto a tile and added a very small amount of water and carefully painted in the scarf and hat on the second snowman and painted the stars and hat band with Silver Starlights.

 

On the main image I decided to paint the snowman's body with some Blanc Rusty Patina and before it dried I sprinkled some glitter on him to give more texture.  I also coloured in his carrot nose with water colour paints.  Then cut out the hat, scarf and stars from the second image.

 

 

Next was to put the card together, before that I wanted to add some texture to the background, so using the Hobby Art Winter Snowflakes stamps and the Press to Impress platform I randomly stamped some snowflakes using Versamark and Wow Bright White Embossing Powder.

 

 

 

Then I layered up the white onto the lilac, then place the largest strip down in the centre first before matting the white then the next piece of lilac.

 

 

 

I then 3D foamed the back of the main image and placed that in the centre of the card.

 

Just as an embellishment I used one of the larger snowflakes from the Tando Mini Snowflakes and painted it with Rusty Patina again then covered it glitter, keeping the little start in the centre of the snowflake so I could place a little gem there.

 

I then wanted a bit more interest and just added a few random lilac gems to finish.

Zinski Art Christmas Cards

Hi everyone, Kirsten here with two more of the Christmas card samples I made for the classes at the end of October. I used the gorgeous Zinski Art 18 stamp set from PaperArtsy.........

The background for this card is just Rich Gold and Red Starlights splattered onto white card. I stamped the baubles on top with Jet Black Archival ink, then again to separate white card with Onyx Black Versafine ink, heat setting with WOW! Clear Gloss embossing powder. I coloured them with Distress inks, cut them out and covered them with double-sided adhesive and loose glitter........

 

  

I did the same for the little owl, but instead of gliitter I added Glossy Accents just to his eyes................

The cute little penguin is from is from another Zinski Art set, not in stock at the moment. He has three little stars over his head and I used them on the background of this card, after I'd swiped the white card through some Broken China distress ink, spritzed with water..............

I created the spiky mushrooms, again from Zinski Art 18, as I did the baubles on the first card, but didn't add glitter, just some Glosst Accents to the dots.................

 

When I stamped the penguin on to the background I made sure his feet were stamped on to the hill, so that when the hill was covered in glitter and he was placed on top of the spiky mushrooms it looked as if he was standing in the snow..............

Good morning, it's Monday again so it's Kirsten here with another project. I hope you enjoyed the weekend. Thank you to everyone who Lisa and I for the Rusty Patina workshop in Grove Green yesterday. I've got some photos, which I'll add to the Lisa B Designs Facebook page later today.

My project today is a That's Crafty acrylic panel stacker, decorated with Woodware Clear Magic stamps, Deco Art Americana acrylic paints and Imagination Crafts' Starlights Metallic paints............

What are acrylic stackers??

 They are 3 pieces of clear acrylic and 1 piece of MDF, with four screws to hold them together. There are various shapes available and they make perfect gifts, or an alternative to a card. 

Two very important things to remember............

1. Remove the protective cover from each side of each acrylic piece before use.

2. Always use STAZON ink on the acrylic, it's the only ink that will dry on the acrylic. 

You could, if you're very careful, use Versafine and embossing powder on the acrylic, but heat drying runs the risk of warping it, so it's probably best avoided.

Firstly, I painted my background very simply with Deco Art Americana acrylic paints and some Starlights for the sun................

Now on to the fun part - the acrylic pieces. One of the pieces is slightly thicker than the other two, so you've got to have an idea of what's going where. I always stamp on the back, it's easier to paint the images that way, rather than looking through the acrylic, so I've also got to remember that the images will be reversed when I flip the acrylic over................

The Woodware Long Tall Flowers stamped in Stazon, painted with Starlights, then flipped over to the 'right side'............

This is the layer that will sit on the painted MDF bottom layer.

The first layer always looks a bit streaky, but if add a tiny amount of water to the paint and paint a very thin first layer, you can then build up the colour with the following layers.

The middle layer;  Smile! from the Woodware Just to Say set, (I love the font chosen for this set).........

The little monster from the Woodware The Blimps set is the top layer. Again, stamped in Stazon on the back, painted with Deco Art Americana acrylics and a little bit of Starlights...........

The colours you want to see have to be painted first, so the spots and the eyes were first, then I added the green paint and I always finish by painting over the coloured paint with either white paint, or gesso, it gives a smoother finish and the colours look a bit brighter...........

Let all the painted acrylic layers dry thoroughly, then use the screws to attach all four pieces together............

Imagination Crafts' Rice Paper Decoupage Card

Good morning all! Martina here with another Imagination Craft's Rice Paper project. We used some of these at Lisa's workshop last Sunday and everyone had such fun with them! We all used different papers onto large tote and small calico bags and then chose our own rice papers to add...they were all fantastic designs and SO different from each other! 

This week I have used sections from two designs of Rice Paper and combined them on one card. Once I had chosen papers, I was able to pick out some colours within them to add to the rest of the card. I started the project by cutting a piece of Watercolour Card to the size I needed for a topper and then lightly shaking some Lemoncello Infusions all over.

Add a spritz of water and the colour bursts free...

To bring some of the pink tones into the topper and take away the white areas, I used some Tattered Rose and Worn Lipstick Distress Ink with a blending tool. I started with the lightest colour all over and then used the darker colour to bring the edges in. Next, I started to add some interest and layers; using the PaperArtsy Stencil PS055 and some Salmon Starlight Paint, I added flowers over the whole area.

Once the paint and paper was all dry, I started to arrange my chosen elements from the Rice Paper. I chose some clocks from 149 Design and cut them out. I didn't want them as they were on the paper, so I fiddled about until I was happy with the layout. 

Using some Magi-Bond Decoupage Glue, I built up some layers, stuck all the pieces down and overlapped where needed.

Once the detail was all dry, I decided I wanted to add some interest and sparkle! I used a couple of shapes from the Crafter's Companion Delicate Details Foil Transfers with some Rose Gold Foil in the corners, but then decided I wanted to add even more...(steady, steady I hear you say...) To give a vintage look I added some tacky glue around the edges of the card with my fingers and let dry very slightly. I then used my left over Rose Gold Foil and pressed it into the glue areas. 

To add a message I picked a word combination from the Imagination Craft's Take Time Set. As the words are not joined together as one stamp, it is very easy to arrange them in the position that you need them to be - clever, eh? I arranged them on my block so as to fit a tag die from my stash. I then stuck a left over piece of Rice Paper Design 448 onto some card, stamped with Brown Archival Ink and die-cut.

The final touches were to add some matts and layers in coordinating card and some ribbon from my stash.

Difficult to see the foiling in the picture above, but it is there, I promise!
