Flown Alone

Good morning all.
I hope you're all well this morning and looking forward to the class today, very exciting to know that Lisa's stamps will be there.

So this is my last blog for this months theme of Butterflies and Brusho's and I've done something quite different to what I normally do.  I've done a bit of splashing about with the Brusho's but unfortunately the photos don't show the true colours, they are more intense in the flesh :o)

I used a 6 x 6 card and matted it with black card from my stash.  Taking a piece of watercolour card I dotted it with Purple and Yellow Brusho's before spritzing making sure I had a few splashes here and there.  I dried it all off with the heat gun then to highlight the splashes I drew around them with a fine marker pen, then daringly added some glossy accents in the centre of each splash to highlight them a little more.  I like the way Lisa adds little bubbles to her cards I think it gives them life.

Next was to cut a smaller piece of black card and matted it with more watercolour card before stamping with the Stampendous Butterflies embossing it with Wow clear powder.  I stuck this flat to the card.  I stamped a butterfly mask using Woodware Mask It and stamped across the whole card with the Stampendous Vintage Contact stamp.  (I think I should have embossed this too but in my haste I forgot).

I decided at this point that the middle of the card was too stark white, so, keeping the butterfly masked, I distressed the card with Victorian Velvet and Antique Linen.  I then decided the butterfly looked too flat so I stamped the image again and cut it out to decoupage it and then felt happier with it.  I wanted to keep the butterfly white so the embossing was more effective.  Here's a close up.

I hope you like the quick and easy card today, have a wonderful time if you're going today
Take care, Love Jan -x-

  3. Amazing how the yellow and violet didn't mix into mud! The background is gorgeous and light and your daring worked out well. The stamps are gorgeous too!
