Announcement - A New Design Team Member!!!

Good evening, blog visitors, Kirsten here with some excellent news. I am delighted to announce that we have a new design team member. Please allow me to introduce to you............. Martina Tidball!!

Martina has been attending Lisa's classes in Maidstone for the last few years, so we know her well & her work is excellent. Here she is to tell you a bit about herself.............

"I started crafting over 9 years ago now, after a chance visit to a craft shop. I am not sure exactly what happened to me, but when I saw someone using a die-cutting machine I suddenly had an “I can do that” moment! I was fascinated by the perfect little images that appeared and inspired by the fact that I didn’t have to be an artist to make something. My first cards were basic, with peel-offs, stickers and fancy cut papers, but then I discovered the world of stamping and the rest is history!
My approach to crafting has certainly evolved over the years, most significantly once I had broken through a few barriers; accepting that there are no definite ‘rules’, things do not have to be perfect and it is ok to have some practise goes…
My style varies but my favourite themes are the ethereal world through to steampunk, inspirational quotes and vintage beauty. I love stamping, inks, and using lots of different textures and mediums on my work. I make a lot of cards, but the recent trend into the altered art world has really inspired me; I love the way this allows me to expand the methods and approaches I use.
I live in Maidstone, Kent with my husband, 3 children and a dog. I work part-time for an insurance company and use my crafting as a hobby and for some ‘me-time’. Having never been the most confident of people, it is only in recent years that I have started a blog and even started showing anyone my creations. To be asked to join Lisa’s design time is a huge honour for me and I will try my best to live up to the challenge!
You can see examples of my work on my blog:

Martina will be posting on the Lisa B designs inspiration blog every Thursday & she's already been hard at work, making samples for tomorrow's classes. Here are a few sneak peeks..........

Martina will tell you all about these cards in the coming weeks.

Lisa, Jan & I are thrilled to welcome Martina to the DT & we are very much looking forward to working with her in the coming months. We hope you will join us in making her welcome, please feel free to leave a comment & also follow her blog....... http://www.mysticmoonflower.blogspot.co.uk

Before I go.... As I said above, tomorrow is Class Day (you can read about the class theme in this blog post). Below is a list of items it would be helpful for you to being..............

A brayer - VERY important. We have a few available to borrow & some to buy, but there won't be enough for everyone.

Blending mat - A4 or larger. Not essential, but they make brayering paint so much easier........

2 Ink Blending Mats

Assorted background stencils. If you have the Imagination Crafts' Bubble Background stencil, or similar, you should definitely bring it with you........

Bubble Background

Black Soot or Hickory Smoke distress inks.

Acrylic blocks, various sizes. There will be plenty of stamps for you to use, but not enough blocks for them all.

Assorted bottle caps (small & medium sizes) & an old gift card. There will be a few for you to use, but not enough for everyone.

Gloves & an apron.

There are still a few places available in both classes tomorrow. The cost is £16 & if you would like to attend, please email Lisa; lisabaker1@btinternet.com, before noon tomorrow.

I'll be back over the weekend with a review of the classes & a new blog challenge, ( the current challenge, Lavinia Stamps, ends Saturday, September 5 at midnight).
