Spring Cottage

Hi, Jan here again,
Well it's the new year and Spring to look forward to, which inspired me to create this colourful card.

The finished size is 7" x 7" and the layers were just over the half centimetre between each, and used a sheet of co-ordinations card in pale green and layered it with the Hobby House Spring Floral Card

This is the first time I've ever created a stamped scene image and wasn't sure how to go about it.  So I decided to stamp each of the stamps from the Hobby Art Country Garden set (available in the Mega Sale), of which there are 20 stamps, onto plain white card then cut roughly around each image to use as templates.

I then cut a piece of water colour paper 6" x 4" and placed the images where I thought they would look best, this took quite a lot of moving pieces to finally get, what I thought, would look sweet :o)

Below is the card set out with the templates but also had it in my head how I would repeat some of the stamps to create my scene.  You can just see the outline of where I cut them out.

Once I was satisfied I began stamping the scene using Memento Tuxedo Black in.  I realised once I started stamping that I would also need some masks to help me layer the images so went ahead and created a few using the Woodware Mask-it Sheets.  I decided I would paint using water colour pencils as I personally like that particular look, keeping the colours quite washed out.

When it was finished I matted it onto black card and placed it on the layered card.  I finished off the card with the Classic 3D Bow Die from Sue Wilson  (available in the Mega Sale), and a stamped sentiment from Woodware Clear Magic range (unfortunately sold out at the time of publish)

Here's the finished card again :o)

Thank you for reading my blog today and see you again on 26th January.  And don't forget the Mega Sale
Love Jan x

  3. A good idea for deciding on the layout. I didn't know that there was masking material available-always use post-it notes or scrap paper. Proper masks would be reusable, of course, so the cutting out time wouldn't be wasted. Off to have a look now! Thank you, Jan
