Dylusional Fairies and a Sweet Poppy Mushroom Dwelling!

Good morning! October already and my last post focusing on Dylusions Paints!
My favourite time of the year; I love this season, sunny days for walking that are not too hot and lots of leaves to rustle... Best thing though? Mushroom spotting! There are some fab areas for this, and where there are mushrooms, there are fairies!

With this in mind, for my project I have chosen to use Sweet Poppy Dimensional Paste through their Mushroom Dwelling Stencil for my card, starting off by creating a funky masterboard again...

Using Anna Marie Designs Super Smooth Card Stock (300 gsm) as a base layer, I have applied Lemon Zest and London Blue Dylusions Paint using a brayer. As the colours were quite intense, I have also brayered White Linen Dylusions Paint over the top. This allowed me to add more layers to the piece that can be easily distinguished. Once all these layers were dry, I have used the Imagination Crafts Bubble Background Stencil and applied the Lemon Zest paint though this with a Tim Holtz Blending Tool. Once the bubbles were dry I have used the top from a spritz bottle dipped in the London Blue paint and 'stamped' this all over the page.

My next step was to cut a section from my masterboard, sized to fit my card blank and the Mushroom Dwelling Stencil. I have then taped this down using Stencil Tape and applied Sweet Poppy Dimensional Paste through this with a Spreader. I have done the same with the sentiment, which is another Sweet Poppy Stencil.

Onto the card blank itself, I have used some stamps from the Hobby Art Decorative Backgrounds set, stamping them with Versafine Black Onyx Ink and heat embossing with clear detail powder. I have also used some of the same stamps on the main panel to tie it all in. Once all stuck together with Cosmic Shimmer Dries Clear Glue, the final touch was to give the mushrooms some occupants, so I have used some Small Lavinia Fairies, stamping and embossing in the same way.

Quite a busy card, but I like the texture of the paste and the stark contrast with the background. I hope you like it; remember to have a play yourself and enter our blog challenge, as there are only 2 days left and you could win £20 worth of goodies!!

Love

  1. I love this card, the black mushrooms are so dramatic against the yellow background.

  2. Beautiful, I have the set of dylusion paints and don't use them nearly as much as I should but this has inspired me to have another go with them x
