Good morning blog visitors, hope you had a nice weekend. Thanks once again to everyone who joined us for Friday's classes in Maidstone, it was great to see you. I'd like to show you three of my Card-io cards today & I've got a brief step by step too.
Although this month is supposed to be all about Christmas scenes, I started by making two autumn cards. Scene building is not my strong suit, so I kept everything very simple. For this first card I kept to Distress inks & stamping the images with Jet Black Stazon. I made the background with Shaded Lilac, Salty Ocean, Ripe Persimmon & Squeezed Lemonade. These are all very vibrant colours so I applied very little to the blending foams.
(Links to individual colours at the end of this blog post)
I stamped the Tall Trees stamps with Gathered Twigs, Brushed Corduroy & Vintage Photo Distress inks, sometimes applying two or three of the inks to the same stamp. I used second & third generation stamping too.
The focal images are from the Card-io Combinations set; Christmas Scenery 1 &
Christmas Scenery 2. The birds are Lavinia Stamps Birds stamp & the greeting is
the Grunge Birthday stamp from Stampendous.
For the second card, I also used Christmas Scenery 1 & Tall Trees, as well as the Woodland Walks set & Lavinia Stamps Ducks stamp............
I masked off a section of the Pronty Waves 1 stencil & placed it over a piece of white Super Smooth card, then applied Evergreen Bough Distress ink through the stencil.........
I lifted off the stencil, moved it slightly down, replaced it & applied Gathered Twigs Distress ink through it...........
For the sky I used Tumbled Glass, Peacock Feathers & Ripe Persimmon........
Time to stamp the focal images..............
I wanted the deer to be behind the trees, so I stamped the trees with Cocoa & Brown Versacolor inks, applied WOW Clear Gloss embossing powder & heat set. Then I used a dark brown alcohol ink pen to try to hide the deer a little more.............
I finished the card with the Lavinia Stamps Ducks stamp & the sentiment & grasses from the
Hobby Art Wildflowers set.................
I liked this card so made another one the same way, this time as a Christmas card. I used Seedless Preserves & Shaded Lilac Distress inks & WOW Metallic Silver embossing powder..........
That's it from me for this week. Stay tuned for more blog posts this week, from Lisa, Martina & Jan. The new blog challenge began yesterday. The theme is 'Stamped Christmas Scenes' & if you use Card-io stamps on your project, you get a second entry.
Have a great week.
Kirsten
