Greetings, blog visitors. Here it is, October the first. The Autumn Equinox has been & gone & Summer is officially over, as proved by the weather in the last few weeks. Apart from the long dark nights, I quite like Autumn & I love the colours associated with it; all those reds, oranges & yellows. And, as we're not quite ready to think about you-know-what in December, we've chosen Autumn as the new challenge theme. You'll find all the details on the challenge page , or click on the link above.
I have had a nice time making some Autumn themed cards, here are two of them. What do you think?
This one started out as an experiment. I wanted the impression of a picture behind cracked glass, so I covered the image with Versamark & clear EP & heat embossed. I repeated this about four times & left the topper to cool completely - that's very important, btw. Then I started to bend the topper in various places until it cracked. I rubbed some Versafine Vintage Sepia ink over some of the bigger cracks, it sank into them slightly, emphasising them.
I stamped the scroll stamp with the VS Versafine & blended Distress inks over it, then flicked water on top, to create watermarks. The leaves are cut from a piece of a brown paper bag, which I also covered with distress inks & crumpled. The quote is from my stash, it was a gift from a friend a long time ago & unfortunately, I've lost the packaging, so I can't tell you where it's from.
Next up, something much simpler. This uses Core'dinations card, a little bit of stamping & two die cut silhouettes, which I coloured with Sectrum Noir pens & the message & Card Candi are from Craftwork Cards.
I cut a heart from a scrap of Core'dinations & attached to the bird with a brad to make a wing.
