Clematis Collage & Vellum

 

Hi there crafters, has it been cold enough for you this week?   brrrr  :o)

 

 

As we've been looking over the past months at our favourite techniques and products I thought I'd use Lisa's Clematis Collage and Vellum, after a couple of experiments I decided it looked best in black and white.

 

 

 

I started with a 7" x 7" card blank and matted it with some black then white card stock, I then cut a piece of Vellum the same size at the white matt.

 

Next was the stamping, which  I stamped the larger image of the set and two of each of the flower heads so I could decoupage them.  I used Versafine and Wow Clear Embossing Powder for this.

 

 

Next I added the Imagination Craft Script stamp down each side of the stamped image using Versafine and Wow as before.

 

 

 

I then decided to add a little bit of distress down the sides by using a Mini Distress Ink Black Soot to take away the starkness of the image, I only added a little to the Smoothie and worked it out onto a heat resistant mat before going onto the vellum to give it a smokey look .

 

 

The next thing was to build the card by matting and layering, cutting out the flower heads and shaping them using the very large Embossing Tool but also I cut slightly into the flower petal to make them stand up a bit more as the Vellum is quite a thick material.

 

 

Once the flower heads were stuck into place using Cosmic Shimmer Dries Clear Glue, I then placed a Diamond Gem in the centre of each flower head to finish it off.

A Vintage Rice Paper Card for a Special Someone!

Good morning all! January is flying now and the Easter eggs are on the shelves... I really can't believe how quickly the months are passing me by; if someone has a pause button please push it!

A special lady had a big operation this week, so I wanted to make a card to cheer her up. Earlier in the year I missed one of Lisa's classes ( I was ready to pop with baby no. 4!) during which she played with Imagination Crafts Rice Papers. As I had not had a chance to use them, I decided to have a play...

To start with, I looked at the colours and thought about how I wanted to use all the intricate details on the paper. I wanted to utilise the vintage theme, so I decided on a 7x7 craft card blank. I did not want to lose the beautiful colour tones in the images, so I also backed the paper onto some pearl card using Magibond Decoupage Glue - you can see the difference the pearl backing makes in the picture below...

Next, I looked at the exact section I wanted to use, cut it to size and picked a colour to complement (I also used some dark brown paper, picking this from the lady's hat, but decided this later on!)

To make the edges 'less perfect' I used a Paper Edge Crimper (or as I call it 'distressing tool') and then added some Tea Dye Distress Ink to bring the eye in.

Using the same sheet of rice paper, I die cut some flowers in different sizes.

I also cut more flowers in my complimentary card colours and shaped all the petals with an Embossing Tool before layering up randomly.

Wanting to add more interest behind the flowers, I die cut some flourishes. I added some brads to the flower centres and made a sentiment flag.

I decided I wasn't happy with my flowers: they were too perfect, the brads were silver they didn't look vintagy...(I know that's not a word, but you get my point!) I reached for my Imagination Crafts Bronze Alchemy Wax and rubbed away with my fingers...can you tell!?! Who needs nice nails anyway...

Still wanting to emphasise yet more detail, I thought I would add a little necklace to the lady. I added some seed beads from my stash onto some gold thread and then made a little pendent. Once happy with placement, (realising that one end needed to be longer than the other as her head is turned...doh!) I  threaded my necklace through the card and secured at the back.

With a few bits left of my lovely paper, (and not wanting to waste any) I cut some detail for the inside of my card...

With all the elements assembled (I also cut the bird out and made him 3D) I fiddled a bit...and there we have it!

Anna Marie Designs MDF Dove House.......

Good evening my lovelies,

So sorry for the late hour of this post but I have so much on lately with designing, TV shows, making my niece's wedding invites and getting ready for next week's class that my blog post just didn't get done last night as I was shattered and went to bed!!

So today I thought I would show you a MDF make that I made before Christmas that I have not blogged yet. I used the lovely Dove House from Anna Marie Designs........

    

So the above picture is the dove house in its raw state and this is what I managed to turn it in to......

I really enjoyed painting and decorating the house. I used Imagination Crafts MDF paints to cover the wood pieces. I wanted to bring in some more interest in to the house so I used Craft Emotions wooden embellishments: Romantic Provence, Home Sweet Home and Fence and Lanterns.....

You can see that I used the door arches from the Romantic Provence set, the home from the Home Sweet Home set and the trellis pieces from the Fence and Lanterns set. These really are great little wooden pieces that really help embellish and bring your projects to life and because they are wooden, they take all mediums.......

As you can see I added some sparkle here and there in the form of Gold Sparkle Medium......

The gorgeous Blossom Flowers were from Hobby House and what I have left are available here.

As were the pearl flourishes........

The roof was made from ribbed Kraft card and I used an old Martha Stewart punch from my stash to die cut strips and then overlapped them after edging them with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.

I also added some tiny pink flowers from my stash too.......

Well I hope you like my little make today and hope you are keeping warm indoors and out of this thick fog we are having at the moment!!

Better go and cook my tea now......

Two More Acrylic Stackers

Hello everyone, Kirsten here & I'm late with this post. I thought I'd written & scheduled it, turns out I was wrong, sorry about that. It's a very quick post, I have no step by step photos of my final
acrylic stacker projects.

As with my previous stackers, I used the Stampendous Field of Poppies stamp, painted with Starlights & the I decorated the MDF background with acrylic paint & That's Crafty! Dinky stencils.

I applied Lavender Sparkle Medium onto what would be the upper piece of acrylic, through the Imagination Crafts Wheat panel stencil. My thinking was to have the SM on the front, but when I flipped it over,  so that it was on the inside, it looked even better............
