Spectrum Aquas & Woodware's Special Bird

Good morning, I hope everyone had a nice weekend. My first card today began as a practice piece - as a result, there are no step-by-step photos, apologies, I wanted to see how pale I could make the intense Spectrum Aqua colours of the Floral set, so I stamped the
Woodware Clear Magic Special Bird stamp onto watercolour card with Onyx Black Versafine ink, heat set it with WOW Clear Gloss embossing powder & got to work.

Colours used: Orchid, Jasmine, Blossom, Marigold, Sunflower, Meadow, Bud Green.

Usually, I would scribble the pens onto my blending mat, but here I applied them directly to the edges of the image & dragged out the colour with water brushes. I wanted to see how much colour I could remove & the answer is most of it - you can see how pale the background under the bird is & also under the wing....

When I decided to make a card with this piece I adhered a piece of patterned paper from the
Pastel Paper Bloc by Joy Crafts to a 6x6 card blank & put the image on top, backed with a piece of black card & added Glossy Accents to the flowers. The sentiments are also from the Special Bird set.

My second card.........

For the background I scribbled Sunflower & Heather from the Floral set onto my blending mat, spritzed them with water & used a tapered brush to dab them onto the watercolour card. I built up the colour by repeating this & spritzing water on top to blend the colours until I was happy. I used the same colours for the bird, with Jasmine & Marigold for the flowers.

The Spectrum Aqua pens can also be used to stamp with, by using the brush tip directly onto a stamp. Here, I used Woodware's Clear Magic Fiona stamp, colouring it with Heather, spritzing it with water & stamping onto watercolour card. I got five images from one application of ink, spritzing each time with water. I sprayed more water onto the watercolour card to get the colour to run into some of the white area & when the card was dry I cut it into two pieces & backed each with pieces of
Anna Marie Designs Citrine card............

That's all for today, thanks for looking. The new blog challenge is open & we've had lovely entries so far, it runs until April 4, so there's still lots of time for more entries. And of course, the Mega Sale continues & will do so until everything is gone, so take a look, you're bound to find a bargain, or several.

Until next time, happy crafting.
