Hello crafters, Julie here, hope you're well, welcome to today's project. I'm staying on the bauble theme from the November class, but thought
I'd create my own bauble as not everyone has a bauble die in their
stash. This card is great as you get the 3D effect but it folds flat so
can be posted and thus adapted to anything you want to make it.
To create the bauble I cut out 2 circles in super smooth card and
stamped the Imagination Crafts Christmas Words Art Stamp in Versamark and
heat embossed WOW! Bright White embossing powder.
Then I chose Salty Ocean and Scattered Straw Distress inks for my bauble; I used Scattered Straw first then Salty Ocean. To add a bit of subtle sparkle I dabbed some Soft Purple Sparkle Medium over with my finger and left this to dry (one side at a time). I
then cut out a bauble hanger and painted both sides with White Gold Starlights (one at a time again and left to dry). When the 3 pieces were all dry I put them together with some Cosmic Shimmer Dries Clear glue to make my bauble.
I then took a 7 x 7 card blank and cut out an oval in the front
(landscape), I scored 15mm away either side of the fold to create
the bottom of the card.
I turned the card over and used the same
Christmas text stamp as earlier, stamping this in Salty Ocean distress
ink onto the front of the card. I then went round the edges with the
distress ink and added a starburst stamp & Soft Purple Sparkle Medium on opposite corners.
I then cut on oval the same size as my window in Mirri card and stuck
this to the back of the card. I used some baker's twine from my stash to
attach to my bauble and taped this down making sure it was where I
wanted first with a piece of stencil tape first. I toned down the edge
of the oval round the Mirri card with the same blue distress ink as this
would be seen through the window and the white would be too harsh.
I then used a piece of scrap super smooth to create the top of my card
(width of 40mm) with a fold down the middle and either side, leaving a
slight overhang(5mm) to attach to the card........
When you look
at the end of this piece of card it looks like an M. The top (valley of
the M) gets some Salty Ocean distress ink applied to it and either side
(5mm) of the M has super sticky tape attached to it to stick to the
main card. So side profile the top of the card is an M and the bottom of
the card is a W - which makes the card fold flat. Hope you're not
completely confused now? I'll attach a photo, as a picture speaks a
thousand words, or so the saying goes!
To finish this card I attached a gem to each of my starburst images and
some Stickles as well for good measure. I also attached a thin
scalloped oval frame to the window of the card to set this off. I like
the fact the bauble is 2 sided and you get to see the reflection in the
Mirri card...........
I hope you like my name today, it was a little more complex but worth it I think.
See you next week, have a good day.
Love Julie x
