Time Has Wings

Good morning, Kirsten here. I hope you had a nice weekend. The card in today's blog post uses the gorgeous new stamp sets designed by Lisa for Imagination Crafts: Take Time & Time to Celebrate, as well the new Time stencil & Distress Oxide inks..............

The first step was to apply Imagination's Structure Paste through both the Time Stencil & Imagination's Wall stencil & set the pieces of card aside to dry - about 15/20 minutes, so I didn't have to get impatient............

Once the background card was dry I put some Iced Spruce & Walnut Stain Distress Oxide on my heatproof mat, spritzed them with water & dragged the card through the inks. I repeated this a couple of times, drying with my heat tool in between..................

I repeated the same step, this time with a little Fired Brick Distress Oxide & I also added splatters of Cracked Pistachio & Fired Brick Distress Oxide............

When the card was completely dry I stencilled some Fired Brick Distress Oxide through the script on the Time stencil & added some stamping with permanent green inks using the fob watch stamp from Time to Celebrate & the harlequin background stamp from Imagination's Distress Textures 1 stamp set...........

Now I turned back to the stencilled fob watch & wings. I replaced the stencil & applied
Bronze Starlights to the watch & White Gold Starlights to the wings. I removed the stencil & painted both with a wash of Weathered Wood Distress ink & cut the pieces out.

The wings needed a darker contrast to the Starlights, so I painted around them with a wash of
Walnut Stain Distress Oxide. I also added lots of water to a tiny dot of White Gold Starlights & painted it over the watch face.

I added more stamping from the Take Time stamp set - the little stamps are perfect for adding details -  with a permanent brown ink. I painted some Craft Emotions wooden Gears and Cogs with
Duck Egg Rusty Patina & when that was dry I covered them with Versamark ink & heat set with WOW! Clear Gloss embossing powder. I used a HB pencil & a paper stump to add some shading to the bricks.................

I finished the card by stamping the Stampendous Grunge Birthday onto a scrap of white card, tearing & distressing it & adding it to the card with a length of baker's twine..........

May Classes in Maidstone

Hi everyone, Kirsten here, I hope you're having a nice weekend. I'm here with a few photos from yesterday's classes in Maidstone.

The class projects used the new stamp sets Lisa designed for Imagination Crafts & she will be showing you her cards in her blog post on Wednesday.

As always, there were lots of new products to buy & samples providing inspiration. Lisa & I will be updating the website tomorrow.

A couple of photos from the evening class. Lisa & Julie are having a chat while everyone else is deep in concentration............

Lots of stamping & stencilling going on...................

It was great to see all the fantastic cards created in both classes & I've put all the photos into an album on the Lisa B Designs Facebook page...........

Thank you to everyone who joined us yesterday, we hope you like your finished cards.

Thank you to Julie, Kate, Jo & Paul for their help during the day.

The next Lisa B Designs Maidstone event is the PaperArtsy workshop on Sunday, May 28. There are still some places available.

I'll be back on Monday with the first of my May samples, until then enjoy the rest of your weekend.

An Autumn Themed Card: Craft Emotions Dies and Wood

Good morning all! Martina here with my last 'seasonal' make featuring Craft Emotions products. I decided to go forward (or back!) to Autumn again, the season of one of my favourite things - MUSHROOMS! When I saw the gorgeous little Craft Emotions Edge Mushroom Die I knew it was clearly a 'must have!' True enough, I have used it many times now, not always in its entirety, but a little mushroom here and there looks so cute!

I wanted to stick with Autumnal colours, so used craft card for my base. To create a background I used some Gathered Twigs Distress Ink around the edges of the card and randomly stamped the script stamp from the Hobby Art Decorative Backgrounds Set all over the page.

To add more detail and bring the theme together, I sectioned off a few different leaves from the Imagination Crafts Woodland Leaves Stencil and used Bundled Sage Distress Ink to add them all over the card.

Once my background was complete, I cut a huge tag from the middle of it!

Now for the mushrooms! I cut two lots of the Craft Emotions Edge Mushroom Die and coloured them in with Distress Markers and Inks. I did not need the whole of them both, but it is easier to colour them all and then fiddle with placement later!

To create more of a woodland feel, I stamped the bare tree trunks from the Hobby Art Nature Trail Set and coloured them in. I then cut these out and stuck around the edges of my topper before adding my mushroom border.

Going back to the tag, I layered it onto some green card and used a Hobby Art Stamp to add a sentiment.

The card looked a bit bare at this point, so I added some Craft Emotions Leaves and some little birds from the Craft Emotions Botanical Summer Wooden Embellishment Set. All were coloured in the same tones as the rest of the card to bring it all together.

There we have it: very simple, great for an autumn birthday, a 'just because'. or maybe a 'thinking of you' card maybe?

See you next week!

Love,
Martina

May Newsletter

Hi everyone, Lisa here, apologies for the lateness of this blog post, it's been one of those days!

I hope you enjoyed the bank holiday weekend, If you watched any of Imagination Crafts' One Day Special shows on Hochanda you'll know it was a busy one for me. I really enjoyed the shows and  it was lovely to get so many lovely comments about the new stamps I designed for Imagination. I spent the previous week at Imagination HQ, working with Sue to prepare all the demos and the samples for the shows, it had been a while since we worked together and we had a great time.

I'm delighted to say that both of my new stamp sets are available on my website and we will be using them in Friday's classes in Maidstone, alongside Craft Emotions cutting dies and wooden embellishments. The class projects will be two cards, one of which will be suitable for men. Here is a sneak peek of one of the class projects.........

And a few sample projects...........

I have added some new items to the website today, including new PaperArtsy stamp sets, stencils and Infusions and some new stencils from Imagination Crafts.
The June issue of Craft Stamper magazine is also in stock................

All of the new products can be found in the What's New section.
If you have any of the following and would like to bring them with you to the class on Friday it would be a great help......
Colouring mediums, eg; Distress inks, Starlights, colouring pencils/pens
Paintbrushes
Onyx Black Versafine ink pad/Black ink pad
(Feel free to bring other stamp sets if you'd rather use them)
***Please ensure your items are clearly labelled with your name***
There are a couple of places still available, so if you would like to attend one of the classes, please contact me by lunchtime on Thursday May 4.
Class times are 2.30 to 5.30pm and 6.30 to 9.30pm. The class fee is £16. This includes your projects, a papercrafting tool kit to use during the class and tea/coffee and a slice of cake.
Please can I ask that you book your place in advance - either payment in full, or a £6 deposit. This ensures that I prepare enough projects for everyone.
You are welcome to order items from the website and pay for them at the classes. Pre-orders by lunchtime on Thursday would be much appreciated, as this gives me time to pick everything before we load the van.
If you're attending the Hochanda/Create It show at the Kent Event Centre, Detling Showground, on May 13 and 14, I hope you'll visit the Imagination Crafts' stand. I will be demoing alongside Sue and we would love to see you.
There are still places available in the PaperArtsy workshop on May 28 and I have added information about the next workshop on July 23, which will be based on Textile Starlights and Rice Papers.
Have a great week, I'll be back next Wednesday with the first of my projects for May.
 Hugs, Lisa B x
