February Class Review

 

Good afternoon, I hope your Saturday is going well so far. It was back to Fant Hall in Maidstone yesterday for the first time in two months for the first classes of 2015.

 

 

As always, the shop was full of crafting goodies & there were dozens of cards & altered art pieces providing inspiration.

 

 

 

Gill Middleton was there to collect the raffle prize she won at December's Christmas party class....

 

 

 

Congratulations Gill! Have fun playing with all of your new crafting toys.

 

Once all the catching up had been done, it was time to get to work.

 

 

 

 

The classes were all about creating backgrounds with inks & the level of concentration was super-high!

 

 

 

There were dozens of stamps, stencils & inks to choose from.............

 

 

 

 

By the end of the day, some fantastic cards had been made...........

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

As you can see, every card was different.

 

 

 

There were lots of lovely colours used & some great stencilling & stamping.

 

 

 

 

 

Thank you to all the ladies who attended yesterday's classes, it was great to see you. And thanks for taking a chance & getting inky, it was very brave of you. ;)

It's Class Day!

 

Good morning, happy Friday. Yes, it's time for the first two classes of 2015. It seems ages since the Christmas party classes, so it will be lovely to see everyone.

 

I have nothing new to show you today, I'm saving all my new samples for the next few weeks. But I did have two pieces leftover from my Creative Palette backgrounds, so waste not, want not, I used them on two more cards..............

 

 

I stamped the Woodware Clear Magic Wheat stamp on both, with Onyx Black Versafine & heat set with WOW Clear Gloss embossing powder.

 

Before the stamping I added splatters of Gold Brocade Silkies to the paler background & splatters of Bronze Brocade to the darker background & the splatters resisted the Versafine ink.

 

I used the Wheat stamp directly onto the card blanks too, just lightly with Boysenberry & Ash Rose Versacolor inks to get a faded appearance.

 

The seed head & the sentiment are both from Hobby Art's 'Anna's Collection - Just For You' stamp set.

Decorative Background

Morning all,

hope you're having a good week, it's certainly been a lot colder, luckily the snow near us cleared quickly.

So today I've used the Hobby Art Decorative Background clear stamp set

and done just that!...

 

Created my own background for an any occasion card.

 

I cut a 13cm square white stamping card and stamped the lined linen look background element using 

Versacolour Orange ink pad.

The Swirly elements were stamped using Versacolour Rose Red.

I rounded the corners of this card using the Regular corner punch.

I had a piece of red nylon/ribbon in my stash so I attached this using tape on the back of the card.

Then I used a 1 1/2 inch punch to cut the circle and stamped the firework element in orange.

This was glued in place.

I matted this layer onto a 14cm piece of orange card, rounding off the corners again.

The whole thing is mounted onto a 15cm card and a few red gems stuck on finished this design.

Hope you like this, I really enjoyed using these elements in this way.

February Newsletter

 

Hi Peeps,

How are you all? It seems an age since I last saw you, I do hope that you have all been keeping yourselves warm in this freezing cold weather.......

I am really looking forward to catching up with you all at the class this Friday, 6th February, we have so much to catch up on and I have lots of exciting news to share with you......

 

This month we are doing a technique based class using inks, stamps and stencils. We will be brushing up on old techniques and then adding a few new ones in the mix. You will create two cards but actually be able to create four pieces of artwork so your favourite two can go on your cards.

 

I have been told by a couple of ladies that if they knew up front what we are using they would like to bring along a few of their own products to use, instead of waiting for certain colours etc. We will be using Distress Inks and Versacolor Inks, Texture background stencils and main focal stamps, so if you have any favourites at home feel free to bring them along.

 

Please make sure that they are marked with your initials so that things do not get mixed up as there will be plenty of inks, stamps and stencils to use......

 

The only thing that I ask you to bring along are small acrylic blocks approximately 76 x 100mm, if you have some, as you will all need to use one and I don't have enough for everyone......

The shop will be open to everyone and anyone, who wishes to pop in between 2.30pm and 9.30pm at Fant Hall, Barming, ME16 8NN and don't forget to all bring your loyalty cards.

 

Remember that I don't bring everything with me now as there is far too much stock, so if you want anything specific please email me or ring me on 01622 675078. I will also bring to the class the orders that you ladies have placed on the website, as promised.....

Create and Craft with Imagination Crafts

 

As I told you last month, there are new & exciting things happening with Imagination Crafts this year. I will be launching my new range of stamps with them and there will be more products following, so it is a very exciting time....

 

Sue and I are on Create and Craft again this month on

Thursday 12th February at 1pm and 6pm, unless the times change but I will let you all know. We have some lovely demos and techniques lined up for you, so be sure to tune in....

Owl'll Be There

 

 

Hello, I hope everyone had a nice weekend. Apologies for the terrible pun , but I couldn't resist. Today's card is very simple, but I hope you'll agree that it is also quite cute.

I had forgotten I had this Hobby Art Owls stamp set, so I thought it only right that I use two of them for my last HA card for January..............

 

 

 

 

I used Core'dinations card for all three layers. I stamped one of the larger stamps from the HA Decorative Backgrounds set with brown Versacolor ink onto the cream card & heat set it with clear embossing powder.

 

I die cut the green layer & the doily with a circle die & attached the doily with a little Cosmic Shimmer glue.

 

The owls & the branch were coloured with watercolour pencils & a water brush. The heart was coloured with a red felt tip pen & a gold pen, I also applied Glossy Accents to the heart.

 

The sentiment was stamped with the HA Alphabet Typed stamp set, using Onyx Black Versafine. This stamp set is meant to give a slightly patchy result, but it was a little too patchy on the Core'dinations, so I filled in the letters with a black fine line pen. I added a doodled border & attached all the layers - using 3D foam pads on the reverse of the green card - to a 6x6 white card blank............

Keep It Simple Sunday - Dragonflies Fly

 

 

Good morning, happy Sunday. I rarely use coloured embossing powders on my projects, so when I came across a pot of WOW Pastel Blue EP in my stash, I decided to give it a try.

 

 

 

 

The background is Adirondack inks Sunset Orange & Sunshine Yellow blended onto Ann Marie Designs' Super Smooth white card. I dried it thoroughly then rubbed an anti-static pad all over it. I stamped the dragonflies, seed heads & grass from the Hobby Art 'Anna's Collection - Just For You' stamp set with embossing ink & heat set with the pastel blue EP.

 

I found a piece of Core'dinations card that matched the embossing, so I used it with another piece of Super Smooth for matting & layering onto a 7x7 white card blank.

 

The sentiment is from the same HA stamp set, I added a tiny black adhesive gem to the dot of the 'j'.
