Lisa and Imagination Crafts On The Telly!

Morning, happy Saturday, Kirsten here. I wanted to let you know that Lisa, and Sue from Imagination Crafts, will be on Create and Craft today. They have two shows; 10am & 4pm & the items they'll be showcasing include new stamp sets, exclusive to Imagination Crafts.

Just For You

Morning, happy Friday. I'm typing this on Thursday night & it's proving a difficult task because my fingers are so cold. Hope you're all managing to keep warm.

 

Here's my card for today, I used stamps from the Hobby Art 'Anna's Collection - Just For You' set..........

I used Versacolor inks Split Pea & Atlantic to make the background - mostly second generation stamping. The tiny dots & stars are from the HA Decorative Backgrounds set, it's a great little stamp for filling in areas..................

 

 

 

 

The biggest stamp in the set was stamped once with Sky Blue & once with Atlantic Versacolor & the sentiment was stamped with Black Versacolor.........

 

 

 

I cut a piece of vellum to the same height as a C6 card & about 3cm wider, then embossed it with the Crafts Too Ball Flowers embossing folder (30% off in the Mega Sale)........

 

 

 

 

I used Anna Marie Designs Plain Citrine & Dottie Powder Blue card for matting & layering & adhered the vellum to the back of the lefthand side, to create a cover. I finished the card with a length of seam binding ribbon & a bow.......

The big news at Lisa B Designs is that tomorrow on Create & Craft, Imagination Crafts launch the first releases of Lisa's brand new stamp range. At the moment, Sue will be on at 10am & Lisa is scheduled to be on at 4pm. If that should change Lisa will try to let me know & I will update the Lisa B Designs Facebook page etc.

Thoughts of Spring...Nesting...

Morning all,

Hope your week is going ok.

Well it's my Thursday slot again and I've used a lovely stamp set from 

Hobby Art called Nesting, it's a four stamp set.

I wanted to create a nesting theme and, I chose to compliment it with a

 New two die set from Marianne Creatables called Anja's Vintage Frame. (30% off in the

MEGA SALE)

.

I cut the main outer frame and two of the Lattice inners from smooth stamping card.

The Lattice inner reminded me of a trellis which is where the idea generated for this design.

 

 

I stamped the main image of the birds with the nest onto the main die cut frame using 

Black Onyx Versafine &

I coloured the image using alcohol based markers but equally
Watercolour pencils would look great.
 

To the trellis work I added some scraps of hessian and cheesecloth.

The hessian I glued behind the trellis and I threaded some small pieces of cheesecloth and hessian threads through the holes to resemble nesting material.

A few Pink Mulberry Flowers finished off these trellis pieces.
 

 

 

I Glued the trellis pieces flat on to a piece of Kraft card and layered the center image with

Foam pads before mounting the whole thing on to a homemade card blank.

Cockadoodledoo........

Good Morning all,

I do hope that your week is going well.......

Today I thought that I would show you another frame that I made last year for Hobby Art......

We were invited to a DT play day with my lovely friend Jenny over at Hobby Art and we all got together at another lovely friends Helen Meighan and we all had a great time......

We all worked on or own projects but Alex Kamann gave us a little copic colouring session and I did the cockerel on a separate piece of card. Alex is fab at colouring and if you ever get chance to do a workshop with her on copics it is worth it.......

The set I used for the make today was Cockadoodledoo:

Anyway this is how I made it.....

I painted another of my cardboard frames with some white gesso drying it between the layers. I used a blending tool with some Frayed Burlap Distress Ink and added some colour to the edges of the frame as shown. I then took the chicken wire stamp from the set and inked it up in my hands with Versafine Black Onyx ( not on an acrylic block as the surface of the frames is not always flat ) and randomly stamped around the frame. I then embossed it with Wow Sparkle Embossing Powder......

For the inside of the frame I cut a piece of black card to fit in the centre of the frame and attached it. I then cut a piece of Anna Marie Dottie Olive Green card to mat on top and then a smaller piece of water colour card to work on......

Using the Cockadoodledoo stamp set I build up and stamped my background scene, I knew that I wanted my cockerel to be the main focal  of the image so I stamped a grounded mound for him to sit on.......

I wanted the background to be muted so I chose to colour it with Watercolour Pencils and built up the colour as I painted it. I cut out the cockerel that I had coloured earlier with my copics ( it was a little bit fiddly on the tail ) and then attached it to the picture with Cosmic Shimmer Glue.....

To finish using a ruler and black fine liner I added a line and dot border around the sides and top and then stamped silhouette checked border along the bottom ........

Inkadinks Backgrounds

 

Good morning, hope everyone is managing to keep warm, I seem to add an extra layer each day. :)

 

Today's post carries on from last Friday's, where I dripped Imagination Crafts' Inkadinks onto wet watercolour card. I decided to try the same thing on pieces of dry & gessoed watercolour card.

 

In the photo below the gessoed card is at the top...........

 

 

I mixed three Inkadinks with water in a small paint palette............

 

 

 

And used pipettes to apply them to the card. You can see how intense the colours are, compared to how they look after application.........

 

 

 

What I discovered was that the Inkadinks will sit in drops on top of both the dry & the gessoed card, instead of being immediately absorbed, as they were on the wet card. To get adequate coverage you have to move the card around, allowing the liquid to travel in all directions.

 

I did this a few times, drying the cards a little in between & also mopping up the drops that fell onto the craft sheet.

 

When both cards were thoroughly dry I applied Cool Peri Adirondack ink through the

Imagination Crafts Diamonds stencil.

 

In the picture below, the gessoed watercolour card is again at the top. You can see how pale the colours are compared to the ungessoed card underneath, as well as how faint the stencilled Adirondack ink is...............

 

 

 

I added stamping - mostly second & third generation with Adirondacks, as well as with Black Stazon - with The Hobby Art Decorative Backgrounds stamp set, (Hobby Art stamps are on special offer at present, 30% off), using Adirondack inks (40% off in the MEGA SALE) & added splatters of Royal Satin & Purple Lace Silkies...............

 

 

 

I stamped the Hobby Art large sunflower onto each background with Onyx Black Versafine & heat set with clear embossing powder & coloured each flower with Promarkers..............

 

The background for the sentiment (Anna's Collection - Just For You) is from the HA Decorative Backgrounds set.

 

I used black & Core'dinations card for the matting & layering & both card blanks are 6x6.

There you have it, two more ways to create a very quick & easy background.
