April Classes in Maidstone

Hi everyone, Kirsten here with a quick review of last Friday's classes in Maidstone. Sorry I didn't post it over the weekend, I didn't get time.

As always, let's start with all the new crafting goodies that were for sale. There were new Rice Papers from Imagination Crafts & Lisa made some stunning cards to showcase them. Interest in these was very high, so we think they will be a class topic in the near future.............

These gorgeous Woodware Clear Magic flower stamps were used for the class cards. Also new were these cutting dies from Marianne Designs & Crealies...............

More cutting dies from Craft Emotions & Sheena Douglass for Crafter's Companion...............

New Imagination Crafts' stencils, including their gorgeous mini stencils. We'll have samples made with these next month............

Our big reveal!!!! Stamps, stencils & Infusions from PaperArtsy............

The ladies used the Infusions in the classes & gave them a big thumbs up. There are a few available on the website, but Lisa will be ordering more.

Lisa demoed a number of techniques with the Infusions first, then everyone got to work.............

Lisa will show you the class projects cards in her blog post on Wednesday, but here are a few created by the ladies............

We were very impressed & delighted by the cards they made. The backgrounds were gorgeous & there were lots of really lovely colour combinations.............

I will put all the photos into an album on the Lisa B Designs Facebook page

Thank you to everyone who joined us on Friday, we hope you enjoyed the classes. Lisa & I send get well wishes to those who were laid low by the virus that's going around & had to cancel, we look forward to seeing you next month - Friday May 5.

Thank you, as always, to Kate, Jan, Jo, Rose, Julie & Paul for their help throughout the day.

Please visit the What's New section of the website to see all the new products.

Hobby Art Acrylic Tag

Hi everyone, Kirsten here, happy Thursday! I've standing in for Martina today, with the final two of my Hobby Art projects............

The first is a That's Crafty! acrylic tag. I stamped the Funky Flowers & Birds on Wire stamps onto the front of the tag with Black Stazon ink & painted them on the reverse of the tag with many of the new colours of Starlights - Bronze, Salmon, Kiwi Green, Island Blue, Banana Yellow..........

The second project is a birthday card. I made a simple background with Distress inks
That's Crafty Dinky stencils & Bronze Starlights through the paint splat on the Imagination Crafts' MU43 Art Stencil.

I stamped the Hobby Art Funky Bird onto white card, coloured it with Distress inks with a colour wash of Pearl Starlights on top & cut it out. The sentiment is from Woodware's
Clear Magic Hand Drawn Sentiments set & I stood the bird on a scrap of torn washi tape...........

That's it! We've shown you so many Hobby Art projects this month, hope some of them inspired you. Thank you for all the kind comments. Tomorrow is Class Day in Maidstone, it will be great to see everyone.

April Newsletter

Hello, Lisa B here, happy April! I hope you've been able to enjoy the gorgeous sunshine over the last few days. I've been spending most of my time in the craft cabin, working on samples for various Imagination Crafts' programmes on Hochanda, samples and projects for my classes in Maidstone this coming Friday and last week I made samples for Hobby Art's Hochanda programmes - it's all go!

I'm doing three programmes for Imagination on Easter Saturday, April 15. The times are 7am, 2pm and 6pm - I'd better make sure I get an early night the night before! There'll be new products to buy and I will be doing my best to fit in as many demos as possible, so I hope you'll be able to tune in at some point.

If you follow the Lisa B Designs' Facebook page you'll know that I have started stocking PaperArtsy products. This is something I've wanted for a long time, so I'm absolutely delighted. I've started with a selection of stamps, stencils and the gorgeous Infusions pigment powders, you can see everything HERE.

Another piece of good news is that I have found a hall in Maidstone where I can hold regular workshops at weekends and the first one will be a PaperArtsy workshop on Sunday, May 28 in Grove Green Community Hall, ME14 5BT. More information can be found HERE. Here's a sneak peek of one of the workshop projects...................

I have added so many new products to the website recently that it would be impossible to list them all here, so please visit the What's New section to see everything. I will be adding a few more items between now and Friday, including the May edition of Craft Stamper magazine, which is now is stock............

And so to Friday's classes. We'll be working with PaperArtsy Infusions to create different effects on backgrounds and focal images. Here are a couple of sneak peeks of some of the class projects......

If you have any of the following and would like to bring them with you on Friday it would be a great help......

Colouring mediums, eg; Distress inks, Starlights, colouring pencils/pens

Paintbrushes

Onyx Black Versafine ink pad/Black ink pad

(Feel free to bring other stamp sets if you'd rather use them)

***Please ensure your items are clearly labelled with your name***

There have been a couple of cancellations due to illness, so if you would like to attend one of the classes, please contact me by lunchtime on Thursday April 6.

Class times are 2.30 to 5.30pm and 6.30 to 9.30pm. The class fee is £16. This includes your projects, a papercrafting tool kit to use during the class and tea/coffee and a slice of cake.

You are welcome to order items from the website and pay for them at the classes. Pre-orders by lunchtime on Thursday would be much appreciated. This gives me time to pick everything before it goes into the van.

I'm looking forward to seeing everyone on Friday. If you can't make the classes, look out for project photos on my Instagram and Facebook pages and on the blog in the coming weeks. And if you're going to the Crafting at Ally Pally show on Saturday, April 8, I might see you there. Sue will be demoing on the BJ Crafts' stand, so I'm going to the show to cheer her on.

Have a great week, i'll be back next Wednesday with the first of my April projects.

Hugs, Lisa B x

Hobby Art Sweet Peas Bouquet

Good morning crafters, Julie here. Sorry, I didn't realise this was a 5 weekmonth, hence I thought my card last week was one last sweet pea card...whoops! Today's card is very straight forward, it uses the Hobby Art Sweet Peas stamp set and watercolour card.

I attached the stamp to an acrylic block and coloured all different parts of the stamp using
Floral Spectrum Aqua pens, (***Lisa has these on offer at the moment at  50% off...a bargain!).

Once all the stamp is inked up give it a couple of spritz of water and stamp onto watercolour card. I did the same with the sweet pea text and left to dry. Instant multi-coloured images!

I then just rounded the corners of the watercolour card and mounted onto some pale pink card that I die cut to add some detail and attached this to my card blank with double sided sticky pads. Finishing off with 4 pearls to complete the card.

This was a simple card to make and great if you are in a hurry....

Well, that's me done until next week.

Take care,

Hobby Art's Funky Flowers & Funky Bird

Morning, happy Monday & happy April! Kirsten here, hope you had a nice weekend. This week sees our final Hobby Art projects, there'll be a new blog topic from next Monday. I've got a birthday card with a difference to show you today; I used Hobby Art's Funky Bird & Funky Flowers stamps with two That's Crafty! greyboard postcards..............

I forgot to take any step by step photos while making this, but I painted the postcards with Turquoise & Sand Starlights first. My initial idea was to have yellow & green flowers heat embossed on the turquoise sections, but when I did it it looked absolutely horrendous, so I immediately scrubbed it off. You can just about see some of what was left in the photo below............

I repainted with Turquoise Starlights & stamped the daisy from the Hobby Art Nature Reserve set with Banana Yellow Starlights instead. That looked much better & I liked the added texture from the remains of the heat embossing. I painted the Funky Bird & Funky Flowers with watercolour pens & cut them out...........

For the reverse of the postcards I first applied Structure Paste through the Imagination Crafts' Hanging Garden stencil & when it was dry I began dry-brushing Rustique & Verdigris Rusty Patina on top. I sanded back some of the Structure Paste & applied tiny amounts of Silver Alchemy Wax to highlight the raised areas.

The hinges were cut from dies in my stash, I dry embossed them & painted them with Starlights & Alchemy Wax................

Some Rustique Rusty Patina around the edges to finish...................

I added the Stampendous Graceful Birthday greeting & the project was finished............
