With Love

Good morning, happy Friday. I hope you enjoyed Lisa & Sue's demoes of all the great Imagination Crafts' products on Create & Craft yesterday.

 

My card today shows you another simple background technique, using both dye & pigment inks.....

 

 

 

 I randomly stamped onto watercolour card with Versacolor white ink on the Penny Black Breezy stamp. I applied a lot of ink to the stamp & applied less pressure in some areas in an attempt to get some texture....................

 

 

 

After drying the ink I applied Pool, Sunshine Yellow & Sunset Orange Adirondack inks with a blending tool, then I used a waterbrush remove the ink from the white leaves...........

I applied Pool ink through the TCW Chicken Wire Reverse stencil..................

 

 

 

 

The word 'love' is from the TCW Live, Laugh, Love stencil, applied with Black Soot DI & the word 'with ' is from a small alphabet stamp set in my stash. The stamping is from the Hobby Art

Decorative Backgrounds stamp set..............

 

 

 

 

The finished card again.............

 

 

 

 

I like the faded appearance of the leaves, it's a change from the crisp appearance of heat embossing.

Watercoloured background

I'm looking forward to seeing Lisa later today on 

the Imagination Crafts show on Create and Craft at 12 midday.

Then Sue is on at 6pm so be sure to tune in as there are sure to be some great demos planned and fantastic goodies up for grabs....

So onto today's card featuring an inked background technique.

I apologise in advance for the picture quality but I had to take them in artificial light.

Anyway I started off by swiping Versacolour inks in Canary and Orange across my craft mat.

I then lightly spritzed with water so that I could use a sponge to swipe across my card background.

Watercolour card is a good option or a card that withstands the water.

I was quite gentle with this technique and blended a bit as I went along.

Next I used clear stamps from a set by Artemio called Butterfly Collage.

I'm afraid these might be out of stock now.

You could however substitute with something like the  Carte Postale set.

I placed the stamps on to the inked mat to ink them up, the trick here is not to have the mat too wet or the image will look too smudged when stamped.

This can be seen a bit on the bottom left image.

However we are just creating a watercolour effect background 

so we don't want to worry too much about perfection.

 We are simply trying to create an interesting effect.

I trimmed my card to fit on a 15 x 15cm square card blank, I trimmed to 13cm square.

I then stamped the main images and sentiment from the Artemio set in 

Black Onyx Versafine.

As a substitute you could use the lovely Butterflies by Sharon Bennett for Hobby Art

To finish I lightly sponged Black Soot Distress Ink around the card edge before sticking onto my card base.

Good morning bloggers,

 

This is a scheduled post as I am on my way to Peterborough today to set up tomorrow for another Imagination Crafts show on Create and Craft. We have two slots tomorrow, I am on at 12 midday and Sue is on at 6pm so be sure to tune in as there are some great demos planned and fantastic goodies up for grabs....

 

As you know our promotion this month is all about inked background techniques so I thought that I would start this month by showing you a card that I made for the workshop last week using stencils, Distress inks and stamps. It went down very well with the ladies.....

 

Yellow is not my go to grab colour really but I just felt the need for colour to maybe remind me of spring and summer, I really am not a winter person. I adore the spring where everything comes to life and the nights draw out and the sun returns :0) .......

 

For this card I used an Imagination crafts Stencil called Grunge Elements which I love and will be stocking very soon. I also used Mustard Seed and Spiced Marmalade Distress inks through the stencil....

 

I then stamped using Versafine Onyx Black Ink with Kaisercraft Botanical stamp across three areas of the card and embossed them with Wow Clear Powder and also added a sentiment.

 

I made a watercolour wash with both ink pads and then painted in some detail on the stamped areas. A little matting and layering and I was done. I think you will agree that it is a really quick but effective card.......

Daisy Silhouette

Good morning, here's my first card for February............

 

As with many of my January samples, I used Versacolor inks, in this case Cyan, Peony & Split Pea. I swiped them onto my craft sheet & spritzed them with water until I saw the beads of ink........

 

I laid a die cut circle of Super Smooth white card on top of the inks, pressed gently & lifted the card off. I dried the card with my heat tool & pressed it into the inks again.

 

When I was happy with how it looked I made sure the card was thoroughly dry, then added splatters of Apple Lace Silkies & water..............

 

 

I adhered the circle to a square of Super Smooth with Cosmic Shimmer glue, using a brayer on the reverse to ensure a flat surface.

 

I applied a few layers of Black Soot distress ink through the Daisy Silhouette mask from That Special Touch..............

 

 

I used black card & green Core'dinations for matting & layering & adhered everything to a 7x7 card blank. The sentiment is from the Hobby Art stamp set, 'Anna's Collection - Just For You'.

 

I had some ink left over so I mopped it up with a scrap of water colour card, added splatters of Denim Lace Silkies & made an ATC...........
