My Dutch Doobadoo Altered Clock....

I am still on my hol's so this is a scheduled post from me and a bit of a quickie today.
I thought that I would show you today a clock that I made using a Dutch Doobadoo Clock Kit, Imagination Rice Papers and Script Art Stamp and gorgeous Hobby House Flowers.......

This is the kit that I used and then added a clock mechanism kit to it.

I based up the mdf clock pieces using Art Deco chalk paint and then added bits of rice paper to the top of the clock. I then added gold Alchemy Wax to the edges. I stamped using White Gold Starlights and the Script Stamp on to the white face of the clock ( this is a piece that you stick on to the back of the clock ) and also on to the mdf base of the clock........

I then cut out and added pieces of rice paper, flowers and embellishments and also a rice paper butterfly (coming in again soon) until I was happy with the composition. 

Lastly I finished off by adding some white gold Starlights with my finger to highlight areas, these really are my favourite little pots of loveliness to play with lately, I adore them....

Summer's Day at the Seaside

Good morning crafters, I hope I find you well today.
Still on the theme of rice papers, this week I took inspiration from one of Imagination Crafts's seaside themed rice papers.

Firstly I cut a 160mm square of super smooth card and divided this into 4 strips (each 40mm wide) drawing pencil lines as a guide. I then painted each strip with a different colour using Americana Decor Chalky Finish paints. Don't worry if you don't stay exactly in the lines as it doesn't matter. The Chalky paint colours I chose were peach, turquoise, yellow and mint green. I put this on the window sill to dry and in the mean time chose the picture from the rice paper I liked and die cut this whilst also die cutting a white card circle the same size.

I used Imagination Crafts Magi-Bond to stick these 2 together, painting the white card with the Magi-Bond instead of the rice paper in this instance and left this to dry.

I then went back to my painted sheet of chalk paint and gave this a coat of Imagination Crafts
Crackle Medium and left this to dry again.

Meanwhile, I die cut a lager white card circle than the rice paper images ( I cut the middle out, but you don't necessarily need to) and painted some Starlights Agean onto my white tile and used the Imagination Craft Script Art Stamp to stamp over the white card. (Make sure you have a tub of soapy water beside you as Starlights stamp well, but also stick well to your stamps, so by dropping them in the water after using them means you can clean them up later rather than having to stop in the middle of crafting!)

I then returned to the chalky paint card that I'd crackle glazed and gave this a coat of watered down white gesso, (just mixed a little gesso with water on my tile), as I wanted a subtle look, and set this aside to dry again. It's fun to watch this paint dry as the crackle starts to take place. Sorry, pun not intended. :)



When this was dry I stamped over the crackled surface with Starlights Silver Gold using the same script text as before, making sure I re-distributed the Starlights on the tile using the paint brush before re-stamping to get even coverage of the medium on the stamp. I had a little Starlights left on my tile, so rather than put this back in the jar I painted a piece of white scrap card that was beside me, to use on the corners to bring it all together later.

To make corners I cut the starlight painted strip of card down to 30mm and marked up 2 30mm squares on the back with diagonal lines and cut this up ready for the corners.

Now all the card bits are made and be assembled together, with the background stuck onto a
7x7 card blank, I then stuck on the corners I made overhanging the edge of the background so they were square on the card blank corners (use wet glue for any positioning piece, as it allows you movement to place correctly).

I then stuck on the Agean stamped circle on flat, centering this first is easier as it's the largest piece. I then moved onto the outer ring of rice paper sticking this raised on sticky pads, the next rice paper ring was stuck down flat again and the central circle was back to being raised on sticky pads.

Now just the finishing touches, which are some pearls from my stash and some Glossy Accents on the water of the rice paper to highlight and the card is now complete.

Indigo Blu Mixed Media Papers, part 2

Good morning, Kirsten here, happy Monday. I have two more of the vintage themed cards I made with the Indigo Blu Mixed Media 6x6 papers for the June classes. You get two sheets of each design in a pack, so they're great for layering up focal images, which is what I did for both of these cards.

I used both of these sheets from the Belle Epoque set, cutting out the car, the butterfly & the postmark from the second piece. As with last week's cards, I added stencilling & gold heat embossing. The embellishments are the clock from the Imagination Crafts' Rice Paper 142 - glued onto white card, cut out, with Distress inks blended around the outside, the Craft Emotions wooden street lamp - painted with Black, Rich Gold & Antique Gold Starlights - and the wooden letters, (from two different sets) also from Craft Emotions, painted with Turquoise Starlights. I used a ball
embossing tool on the reverse of the car & the postmark for extra dimension & adhered them with 3D foam squares.............

This card uses the two pocket watch sheets from the Vintage Memories set. There is lots of stencilling with That's Crafty Dinky stencils & Distress inks, with foiling on top. I also added Glossy Accents to the watch face. The greeting is the Stampendous Grunge Birthday stamp & I added stencilling & stamping to the card blank...........

Rice Paper Decorated Bottle

 

Hello there crafters, Friday once again.  Today is a decorated bottle using Imagination Crafts Rice Papers and stamping using Imagination Crafts Botanical Clematis Elements Stamp Collection.

 

   

 So I started with one of the nice bottles we had at the last workshop and painted it with DecoArt Media White Gesso and set that aside to dry for about 10 minutes.  I then have it a coat of the Americana Décor Grey Chalk Paint and again set aside to dry.

 

 

Sorry you can't see much in the way of difference between the top and next picture, but it really is a lovely shade of grey.

 

 

I wanted this bottle to be monochrome so took the Imagination Crafts Rice Paper 010, which is black butterflies and script on a white background.  I also wanted to use Lisa's lovely Clematis Stamp Set so stamped it onto one layer of white tissue paper, I stamped the main image once then the elements four times so I could 3D them.

 

 

I chose the image I wanted from the Rice Paper and painted around it with a brush and water so I could get a nice frayed edge.  I did the same to the main clematis image, along with a small piece of the script.

 

 

I then put some Magi-Bond glue onto a tile and painted the glue on the reverse side of the butterfly image then laid it on the bottle and painted some more glue onto top to make sure it was all stuck down without any air bubbles.

 

 

 

Next came the stamped image on tissue paper, this was the first time I'd done this so wasn't sure how it would turn out, but I must say it worked fine, one little bit of advice though, take care with the tissue paper it's not as strong as the Rice Papers so be careful once it's glued and lifting it off the surface, it is very delicate.

 

One all the images where stuck on the bottle I highlighted the shape of the bottle by using Imagination Crafts Silver Alchemy Wax, by using my finger tip and putting a little onto a craft mat before transferring to the bottle.

 

I then wanted to highlight the matt areas of the bottle by stamping it using Imagination Crafts Starlights Silver and the Crealies Crackle Stamp.  To do this I spread a small amount of the Starlights onto my craft mat then just took the stamp without an acrylic block.

 

 

Then randomly stamped all over the bottle until all the matt areas where filled in.

 

I then cut around the single clematis images and mounted them in twos before overlaying them onto the main image on the bottle.  It was then I decided I wanted a couple more flowers so just stamped a couple more onto the tissue paper and cut them out again and placed them onto the bottle, one at the bottom stem of the main image and the other on the collar.  I finished it off with a few black gems and tied some black & white twine around the neck of the bottle and hung a silver key and butterfly from the twine.
