Lots of Dots

Todays little card is my take on the class card from the last workshop.  I did this one at home and decided to use some different mediums.
 

 

From out pack I took the 6 x 6 card and placed the Sweet Poppy Dotty Flower stencil on, held down with stencil tape and dabbed through with Pan Pastels in Pink and Lilac tones for the flower heads and a green for the stem.  I wanted to see if the card would hold the colour of the Pan Pastels once the Soft Form Relief Paste - Transparent was spread through.

I cleaned the stencil before spreading with the paste.  After carefully removing the stencil I used the straw and glitter technique to carefully cover the whole image, I used Glamour Dust Crystal for this then left the whole thing to one side to dry.

Meanwhile I took the 7 x 7 card and used the Imagination Craft Bubble stencil with Spun Sugar and Dusty Concord Distress Inks very randomly moving the stencil around to cover the whole card. I then used a cute little bubble stamp I have in my stash with Versamark and Wow Bright White Embossing Powder and stamped all around the edge of the card.

Once the stenciled image was dry I thought about using a couple of dies from my stash for a change so cut the image out first then cut a larger shape in a light pink shade of the coordinations card stock. Then took some double sided tape all around the edge of the card and glittered with Glamour Dust.

Then simply mounted the image onto the pink card then used mounting foam to place the image in centre of the card.

Finished it off with a white Happy Birthday sentiment and some Meringue Card Candy.

Well it seems that the paste works with the pan pastels too, I'm pleased to say and loving the dotty theme, dots are my favourite :o)

Sweet Poppy Dotty Flowers 5 ways........

I do hope that it is a good one for you. I am in sunny Spain at the moment on my hols :0), so this is a scheduled post from me! How is the weather back home?

Following on from my post HERE from last week on how the ladies made the class cards, one of which is below,  I wanted to show you how different you can make them look using the same

 Sweet Poppy Dotty Flower Stencil but different mediums. I adore this stencil as it is so dainty and pretty but because it is dainty, the stencil paste dries really quickly ( bonus!!)......

As you know if you read my post from last week the one below was created using:

Distress Inks

By die cutting or punching a circle out of a piece of white square card and using the same stencil to create a background on another piece of white card and popping it behind you can get a totally different look. I used the translucent paste through the Dotty flower stencil, once I had inked it and added the glamour dust and then when it was dry, I cut out the flowers with a white border around them and inked them on the edges. I just used four flowers and saved two for another project......

How different does that look?

Now for another look, if you follow the instructions from the first class card from last week HERE to create the flowers. Here is the list of ingredients for this one:

Sweet Poppy Dotty Flowers Stencil

Ultrafine Gold Glitter

Distress Ink - Black Soot

Black and Gold ribbon

Gold Mirri Card and Black Card

Just by edging the outside with Black Soot Distress Ink and adding a co-ordinating ribbon and matted card layers, I think it creates a real classy card.......

Try different colour glitters on different backgrounds. Here are a couple more to show you how different it can look. Here I have used:

Purple Mirri Card and Black Card

And for this one I used:

Blue Mirri Card and Green Card

Double Sided Film

I did the same as the other two using Translucent paste this time and different glitters. I wanted a border across this one so decided to cut a strip of double side film and stick it across the card and then add some glitter to it, I think it works really well.......

Sweet Poppy Teardops & Mushroom Dwelling

Good morning, I hope you all had a great weekend. I've got two cards to show you today, made with the Sweet Poppy Mushroom Dwelling & Teardrops stencils & Glossy Black Dimension Paste.

 

I created a background for the first card, outlining the shapes of the Teardrops with pens from the Floral set of Spectrum Aqua pens, then filling in the colour. This is very easy to do, just move the stencil around to fill in the gaps.

 

I mixed glitter with the Glossy Black paste & applied it through the Mushroom Dwelling stencil. When the paste dried there was a nice subtle shimmer from the glitter. The greeting is from the

Poppy Elements Floral Collage stamp set (available to order at present).

 

 

I had some glittered paste left over, so I applied it through the Teardrops stencil onto a piece of watercolour card & when it was dry I sprinkled on Brusho Crystals & spritzed with water.

 

I cut the card down to fit a 7x7 card blank & used the left over piece to add the strips.

 

 

(Hmmm, when I took this photo it escaped my notice that there is a black adhesive pearl missing from the top left corner. Very remiss of me. )

Sweet Agapanthus

 

Hi crafters, wow how quickly these Fridays come around :o)

I hope all those that managed to get to the workshop last Friday enjoyed it, I certainly like using the pastes through the Sweet Poppy stencils.

Here's one of my projects that was at the class last week.  

 

I started with a 7 x 7 card and matted and layered it with black card stock then white, which I left plain so I could stamp an image to the right.

I positioned the Sweet Poppy Agapanthus Stencil on some black card stock  using the Stencil tape then used the white Soft Form Relief Paste to spread over.  Once the stencil was removed I used a cut down straw chiselled to a point to carefully lay the glitter over the wet paste.  Glamour Dust Crystal for the flower heads and a pretty dark green for the stems.  Set that aside to dry 

I thought a dandelion stamp would complement the stencil so whilst that was drying I stamped the Lavinia Dandelion stamp (currently out of stock on the website, however Dandelions 2 is available and would look just as good) using Memento ink and quickly dried it using a heat gun.  Then stamped the little butterflies from the Floral Collage Clematis Range a couple of times.  At this point I didn't have the little Happy Birthday sentiment on the card just above the butterflies and forgot to photograph it before I took it to the workshop so I hope you saw it there.

So once everything was dry I put all the mats together and added one of my favourite little bows by Sue Wilson and a few gems in the corners and on the bow.  Again not in photo sorry.

 

Here's a cheeky photo of a little card I made for my Spanish Brother-In-Law using the Imagination Craft Wall Stencil and Black Soot for the background.  Then used the Black Sweet Poppy Dimensions Paste through a very old metal stencil of horses I have in my stash, and brightened it up with a bit of black glitter.  On reflection I wished I centred his name at the bottom of the card.

Sweet Poppy Class Cards.......

Evening all,

I hope that you are all well......

My apologies again with the late hour of this post but my life has been so hectic over the last couple of weeks and I seem to be chasing my tail all the time!!

First of all I would like to say a couple of things......

Unfortunately we have to say a fond farewell to Karen Clare who has had to step down from the DT Team due to family commitments. Thank you Karen for all your hard work, wonderful projects and inspiration on the blog and good luck with everything.

Karen will still be demonstrating at my Extravaganza day on 18th July, so you will see her there.

I will be away for two weeks from Sunday, I am off to Spain with my sister...yippee!!!!

Although my lovely hubby will still be here, he does not deal with orders so any orders placed on the website after midday on Friday, will be dealt with on 29th June. This will be a very long time in coming, well earned rest as my body is exhausted at the moment and I am very run down, so it will do me the world of good.......

Well tonight I thought that I would show you the class cards that the girls made last Friday using the delightful Sweet Poppy Stencils. I have to say the lovely Lu from Sweet Poppy has some delightful designs and I really enjoyed creating with them and ended up making heaps of samples which I will bring to you over the next few weeks.....

The class included a free Dotty Flowers Stencil and they used this for both cards but made very different looking samples.......

 

The first card that they made, they used Black Glossy Paste on white card using the Sweet poppy Spreader. (A lot of items sold out on the class day but will be back in stock in a few weeks when I get back.) They then used a straw cut on an angle to pick up ultrafine glitter to add to parts of the wet paste and then left it to dry totally.....

Later they came back to the card and from Double Sided Film they cut a mount out, peeled off the back and stuck down and then remove the front of the film and again added some glitter to the top of the mound. I then got them to guild the bottom of the film with gilding flakes. They then stamped a message and matted and layered it up. I think it produces a simple but striking card, what do you think?

Whilst they were waiting for the first card to dry I got them to start on the next card.....

I gave them a choice for this card to either create a full or partial background with a stencil using Distress Inks and a Stencil brush.

The first one below is the full background which is using the Imagination Crafts Bubble Stencil.

The stencil was taped down over the card and using the stencil brush softly, Distress ink was applied through it to create the soft background, the girls used the colours of their choice......

For the second choice, copy paper was torn and masked off an area of the white card before the stencil was taped down and then the ink was applied in the same way.

The background stencil was then removed and the Dotty Flower stencil was placed and taped down on top. (As Kirsten mentioned the other day, it is always best to use a magnetic sheet behind the card and then place the metal stencil on top and this stops the paste from bleeding underneath it )

The girls then used co-ordinating Versacolor Inks with Cut'n'dry foam to ink through the stencil to add colour. At this point it is very important to then clean the stencil thoroughly before you add any paste to it so that you do not contaminate the paste that is scooped back off before it goes back in the pot. I keep the stencil in place and rub it with clean kitchen towel until it is clean.

The girls then used Translucent Paste through the stencil, removed the stencil and then added some Crystal Glamour Dust. This was then set to dry whilst they finished the first card with the foiling.

When this was dry they added a message and some ink around the edge and then matted a layered and made up their second card.

Again a lovely card with a summer feel.......
