March Class - All About Spectrum Aqua Pens

Evening, I hope everyone's had a great Saturday. Here's a review of yesterday's classes in Maidstone. There are a LOT of photos, so I'm going to keep the words to a minimum.

First, there was the all important shopping to be done. Lisa had lots of new products on sale & happily, most of them had sold out by last night. The class was all about Spectrum Aqua pens..............

Lots of new stamps..........

Gorgeous new paper pads from Joy Crafts & some new Deco Art items.............

The classes will be moving away somewhat from cards this year, so there were lots of canvases & canvas panels & pads for sale.........

The first class project.................

(Lisa will be telling you about this & her other class samples in upcoming blog posts)

Time to get busy.............

Trish with her finished card.........

Virtually everyone had their own take on Lisa's card. It was great to see so many different layouts..........

There were separate stations set up for stamping....................

And for cutting card................

Here's Lisa's sample of the second card project.............

And a few of the class cards..............

The general feeling at the end of both classes was that the Spectrum Aqua pens were a big hit & most of the stock was snapped up. Thank you very much to everyone who attended yesterday, with a special welcome to the new ladies, we hope to see you again soon.

**Stock updates will happen on the website on Tuesday. Lisa will doing reorders in the next few days, so if you saw something at the class, or in the photos above, & you would like to order it, please email Lisa at lisabaker1@btinternet.com.**

I will be back in the morning with a new blog challenge.

Class Day

Good morning, it is indeed time for another class. We're going to be using Spectrum Aqua pens & this is a little card I made, using pens from the Floral set & the Designs by Georgina Peony stamp set.......

I stamped the peony onto white vellum & heat set with WOW Bright White embossing powder, the used washes of colour, painting out from the centre. I stamped the border in gold ink & added a few gold sequins from my stash.

It's always tricky adhering vellum so that the glue doesn't show through, so I tried using a quickie glue pen on the reverse of the embossed areas & it worked very well.

I really like the Spectrum Aqua pens & will talk more about them in future posts.

Must go now, lots still to do. We're looking forward to seeing everyone later & remember; even if you're not attending the classes, you're very welcome to visit the shop. It will be open between 2.30 this afternoon & 9.30 tonight.

I hope to be back sometime tomorrow with photos from today.

PS The blog challenge ends at midnight tomorrow night & the new one will start on Sunday.

Versafine Ink Background & Tando Mini Printer Tray

Morning everyone,
Today I'm picking up my post from last week and showing what I did with the

Firstly I glued the three frame parts together, leaving the back to one side for now.
Then I used Stampendous Fran-tage,
I chose the pink glitter from one of the Encrusted Jewel kits.
Applying Versamark helped fix the glitter while I heated it
with a heat tool to melt and set it in place.

It does blow around so you can do this part in a box or tray,
it's a bit off trial and error to find the best technique for yourself.
Normally on a card you'd heat from underneath and I did do that too and
then when it started melting you can heat from above.
I used the glitter all over the front and sides of the glued frames.

Next I cut a piece of stamping card to fit behind the window section and
on top of the back piece of grey board.
Using the Butterfly Collage stamp set from Artemio I stamped the main image using
Versa Color in Rose Red and embossed with clear embossing powder.
Then with the remains of ink left on a piece of cut and dry that's
 used for pink/red ink pads,
I blended colour over the piece of card.

Going back to the frame I then painted the remaining exposed areas with
Martha Stewart Bubblegum Pink paint and glued the printer tray
 and stamped card section together.
I chose four of the other stamps from the same set, stamped and clear embossed using the
Versa Color Rose Red again on the butterfly and postmark and
the Orchid colour for the dragonfly and stamp.

After cutting out I shaped the pieces to give dimension and
used foam pads to secure in place.
The stand for the tray has also been painted.

So there you have it, this cute feminine printer tray that would make a lovely little gift.
Hope this inspires you to create with one of these trays.
Thanks so much for stopping by today.

March Newsletter

Hi Folks,

How are you all? Again it seems an age since I last saw you. I really don't know where time keeps disappearing to, it seems to fly by so quickly. Hasn't the weather been cold lately or is it just me? I really can't wait until it gets warmer. I love Spring and Summer, they are my favourite months of the year.......

I am really looking forward to catching up with you all at the class this Friday 6th March, I have lots of new things to share with you and talk about. There has been a slight change of plan; we will not be using the stamps I designed for Imagination Crafts this month, as there has been a delay on them so we will use them in the May classes. However, it is possible I will have them by next month.

This month we are playing with the brand new Spectrum Aqua Pens and I have to say I am really impressed with them, they are fantastic!! We will be using some lovely new Woodware Stamps with them and you will create two cards.

If you already have any of the Spectrum Aqua pens and want to bring them with you to use then that is fine, just make sure that items are marked with your name.

The only thing that I am asking you to bring this month is a decent paintbrush to colour flowers with, not too small or too big. If you do not have any don't worry as I will have some there (can't guarantee the quality with all of them  though).

We have masses of new goodies up for grabs on the promotion tables, I think you will be impressed as they are scrummy!

The shop will be open to everyone who wishes to pop in between 2.30pm and 9.30pm at Fant Hall, Barming, ME16 8NN and don't forget to all bring your loyalty cards.

Remember that I don't bring everything with me now as there is far too much stock, so if you want anything specific please email me or ring me on 01622 675078. As promised, I will also bring to the class the orders that were placed on the website. Anyone else wishing to place an order for the SALE items, or regular stock, please feel free to do so, as long as it is placed before 8pm on Thursday night. That gives me time to process it and bring it with me on Friday....

As you know, the MEGA SALE is still running on the website and it is really going well, I have added yet more items to it! I am having a ruthless clear out of a lot of stock to make room for new goodies this year as I want to do a lot of new things this year with new ranges. As I let you know last month there are new & exciting things happening with Imagination Crafts and myself this year. I will be launching my new range of stamps with them and there will be more products following, so it is a very exciting time. As I said above we will be working with my stamps in the May classes but hopefully I should have them by next month....

It's All Square

Hello crafters, Jan here again.  It's been quite an interesting couple of weeks since I was last here, but here we are again for another simple card using the inking technique.

Sorry it's not actually a very good picture as you can't see the glossy embossing, but you get the idea :o)

I used Watercolour paper to create the background with Adirondack Latte (sorry Lisa doesn't have this on the website at present so you could use any colour combination really) and Versacolor Brown by first randomly stamping the Latte over the card then dabbing the Brown ink pad in between.  I  spritzed the whole card with water and dabbed it off with some kitchen roll.

I used the heat gun to dry it off slightly, then went ahead and stamped the Woodware Clear Magic Wheat Stamp, followed by a couple of the Hobby Art Decorative Backgrounds and finished off with a Woodware Clear Magic Happy Birthday Stamp, all with Versafine Onyx Black and Wow Clear Embossing Powder.  I also shadow stamped the wheat stamp with the Latte ink pad.

I then matted and layered with black, latte and cream card before placing onto a 7 x 7 card.

That's it, very quick and easy, thank you for dropping by to see my post and hopefully see you on the 6th for the next workshop.

Thanks, Jan -x-
